355 Sealant needed for cam caps?

    We pulled this cam seal off midway through our major engine out.

    Finding all sorts of silicone sealer.

    I assume this is NOT normal.

    We did the LH side and removed all of it, thinking it wasn’t supposed to be there.

    Any need for this silicone goop anywhere on the top end? Valve cover corners, etc?

    By the way, what’s the best sealant to use in the valve cover corners?
