I have been cleaning up my front inner wings and have removed the panels at the rear of the inner wing and cleaned up the wiring and water hoses. The front of of the sills is open to the elements and the removable panel does not seal this gap when it is replaced.

The previous owner had squirted in some expanding foam and this sealed the opening and it seems to have kept this sills very clean. It was easy enough to remove and I was wondering if I should squirt some replacement foam in the gaps when I put everything back together or not.

If I seal it no water will get in but I am wondering a) what the original method of sealing was and b) am I better to leave it open so that air can blow through it.

I know there is not much rain here in the Middle East but one day the car will go back to the UK.

Mine is open and IMO it should be left that way to ensure water / moisture evoporates. Trapped water is the killer.

If you have access to a compressor, buy the airgun and spray cavity wax, dinotrol or waxoyl, into the cill.

    Messy job but worth it.

Also make sure you block the rear cill up temporarily so it doesnt go evrywhere, also watch the interior as it goes everywhere. Alternatively get a garage to do it!!
