Thanks Skip, glad you enjoyed my CD.
I have to say "Heavy" is the cut to listen to on that CD! I think you included some of that tune on the tail end of one of the DVD's you did for the FCA. That song kills! Sean you know I am a fan so no need to say anything else about your CD. Thanks! Vince
Thanks! Funny that you guys like that same song. My wife likes it the most as well, because of the tambourine. It's actually my least favorite song on there, I almost didn't put it on, but its a catchy little ditty, and I guess everybody needs a commercial song, and now the people have spoken! I always thought song #2 "Gilmore" was the catchier hum-job. But if you like hard rock/heavy metal, check out song #9 "Melting Pot". It's quite a bit harder-edged.
Sean, I listened to your CD as well. Excellent! Your guitar style reminds me of a cross between Jeff Beck & Eddie Van Halen. I think it's great that within such a small group of car nuts there is so much artistic talent. I'm still searching for mine, but many have found theirs. Dave
LOL! Thanks for that Gas Tip,Rocketboy....I just bought a Huge-Ass Chevy Conversion Van to use as my "Daily"...:0 (And,Frankie got his new Honda CRF70 DirtBike. But,he wanted to keep his little '03 Honda XR50....Because,he "Loves" it. Not just that he "Likes It". He Loves it like it's his own little guy or something. He named his Dirt Bikes "Big Junior" and "Little Junior". And...Both of his "Toys" are Red,as to match Daddy's Toy....Thats my Boy...he's got Motor Oil in his veins...) Yes,definitely Lovin' the Guitar sounds of Sean...as a Guitar Player meself....But Sean,.you definitely Rock,Man!!!!
Look no further than your garage. I wish I had your talent and know how to maintain and improve my cars. Sean, you're spot on about the commercial part: My musical taste is rather limited, so if I like #5, it must mean it is closer to main stream than other songs. And yes #9 would be another favorite. Hey, I love AC/DC, nuff said. BTW: Melting Pot has an almost identical riff to "Der Misanthrop" from the German punk band "Die Aerzte" on their album "Planet Punk". Check it out. Great minds think alike.
Most definitely,Dave. You are fantastic with the Technical aspects of the Ferrari. I will also include Bob Campen, and Bill Rosen. They all know these machines quite well, and I would go to any one of them with a Tech question,advice,help,etc....
Andreas, that's exactly who I stole the riff from! Ah, just kidding. Only German bands I ever heard of were the Scorpions and Ramstein. There are only 12 notes possible in a western hemisphere music scale, so there's only so many possible combinations before it sounds like something else that has been done. (For those of you with musical knowledge), think about how many ballads and songs have been done with the common combinations of D, C and G chords. The list is endless. So much so, that the government made it law that in order for it to be considered a rip-off, it has to be at least 8 bars of the same riff, because all of the combinations have been used at one time or another. Anyway, everybody has their influences, and their playing styles reflect that. Steve Vai was influenced and played with Frank Zappa, he sounds quite a bit like him. I would cite Vai as my biggest influence, although the list has changed over the years to more jazzy, progressive players. If you guys liked the album, I'll have some new songs posted on the website soon, ( www.theguitardude.com ). Plus I'm working on a music video in high-definition, although that won't see the light of day until next year.
Didn't mean to imply that. I was also quite certain that you never heard of Die Aerzte. But I'll have to bring you my CD next time we meet. You'll be amazed. I was amazed I noticed it and was able to pinpoint it in my vast CD collection. Keep rockin!
Vince, I hadn't thought about a plot line to include a car/s, (you can always just put random gratuitous shots that don't mean anything), but if I did, I think I would want to include other cars than just my own. They would have to be driving or something, versus shots of me standing in front of bling for no apparent reason waving my hands. I'm not a rapper! The song I'm doing the first video for is #3, "In the Sky Tonight". This may not lend itself to cars, although if we do one for for one of the more upbeat songs, I could see it centering around cool cars racing at night through Chicago city streets. Permits would be involved to acquire different stretches of road for short periods of time, one after another..., although some good footage could be had spontaneously and unanounced! Either way, I would have to talk with the Director, as since these are instrumental songs, they really don't have a story line, so concepts are from scratch, and that's what Directors and Writers do.
Your friends from FOC will gladly help you out with providing cars and drivers. BTW: I shot an entire 2 hour movie showing up on location unannounced. Guerilla approach works fine for non commercial flicks (which wouldn't in your situation). There is a reason "Bowfinger" is my fav movie of all times.
Sean, I see where you are coming from on the whole plot thing. Ya know though you see video game trailers/teasers have :30/1:00 spots that show cars screaming through tunnels with killer music attached......well sometimes. Some of those racing game developers do a nice job at throwing that together. Maybe the concept of your video can be a bunch of guys just stealing cars? I know it's been done ala "Gone in 60 Seconds" but it could work yes? I think Frank, Andreas and Skip could make great "car boosters" in the video! It seems a lot of the FOC guys are into the rock/metal stuff so maybe we need to have a guitars/Ferrari photo op! Rock & Roll! Thanks! Vince
Sammy Hagar's "Can't drive 55" comes to mind along with the softer Phil Collins "In the air tonight" featuring the Daytona Spyder replica of Miami Vice.
Well I have listened to the (Seans') song again and I see it as guy meets girl, girl treats him like crap, guy goes on rampage and then does himself in at the end. Has that story ever been played out before? The song is deep in the begining so the video would have to have some calm elements I think. When the song starts to pick up is where the story gets a little crazy. There is section in the song where Sean is soloing for a while and that is where the cars come in! Then towards the end of the song the guy reflects on what he did and then does himself in...How about driving his Ferrari off of a bridge or something.. That is my $0.02. Vince
We'll use Sean's TR for the video and this one for the final stunt (after a Scheib respray in red): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Replica-Kit-Makes-Ferrari-Testarossa-Replica-No-Reserve-Turn-Heads-NICE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ7251QQitemZ4569866471QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
I split the thread about Sean's music CD off the cruise night thread as it really has become its own topic.
Perhaps Bigfrank and myself can dress up as women and star in the video. I'll sing while BigFrank does the charleston
After speaking with some a few contacts at sports/car TV networks, I have potentially found an outlet for a video with instrumental guitar geared towards the extreme sports / fast & furious crowd, which would justify the expense of shooting another video, although we are leaning towards 35mm film, with some HD for greenscreen shots (no grain makes for an easier composite). I appreciate the offers for the cars, but there is no need to dress up like women, we can get real hot girls there! The director will most likely be Michael Ojeda, who is in California, but will be up here in a few weeks. We'll be discussing concepts, etc. He currently has a movie in Blockbuster called "Lana's Rain", which had a small theatrical release as well. It's got to have a good concept/story though, a bunch of cars cruising around gets old quick. Also, to appeal to the widest audience, there will be a variety of cars in it, not just all Ferraris, although there will be some! Plus, there will have to be some exciting driving, and at the very least, some burnouts, 360 spinouts or a 180 while driving along and then changing directions. So the drivers must be willing and capable. Drivers would obviously need to carry their own insurance, while the production would carry the largest insurance to cover liability at the locations, and we would require waivers to hold the production harmless if you lose control of your car and crash. Anyway, it looks like this could become a work in progress very quickly, so I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for your excitement and support!
That sounds great,Sean! Yes,I know what you mean regarding the Cars. I was an "Extra" in a couple of Movies back in the Early 1990's,(Unfortunately,all of my scenes ended up on the cutting room floor... But I do still have the pay Stubs. Too bad,you could have seen me when I weighed half of what I do now... Pretty Funny) But,I also had my Harley and my Corvette that I had at the time,"Contracted in" with my "Extra Contract",so,if they wanted to use them in the Film,I could. But,they had to be Heavily Insured, and it was all "At my own Risk"...Both for Body and Machines...But,I never used the Car or Bike in either of the Films that I was an Extra in....("Flatliners" and "Prelude to a Kiss")
For those of you on MySpace.com I've started a music page. I'll be posting some of the video clips up there and links here. There's about 15-20 seconds completed. www.myspace.com/herbsandtheamazon
