Am waiting on some more info and a follow up visit on the SNJ-2, so this BT-13 came up. With a smaller engine and fixed gear, running costs drop dramatically as well as purchase price (but not as much as you would think).

Here is an excerpt from the seller's response:

" Log books on the engine back to the original logs in the Italian Air Force. The airplane was severely damaged in 1999 when another airplane landed on top of it in the runup area. It was completely rebuilt with new and servicable parts in 2002 in Seattle WA. The colors are authentic and the lettering is correct. The N number has been changed to N XXXX. I have owned this airplane for about 2 years and have flown it for about 40 hours. I have had a fuel tank leak repaired, replaced a voltage regulator, battery and volt meter."

As you will see from the photos, it looks perfect. It should be for what he is asking. I will try to go look at this obe as it really seems like it would be fun and inexpensive long term.

Of course, a clip wing T-6 to P-64 conversion with a geared 1340 and three bladed prop is what I really want... see photos below - there are about 8 of these floating around...

My search for a retirement airplane goes on.. should re-visit the SNJ this week as well.

Sorry not. Its just a t-6 with mods. And a t-6 by any other name is still a t-6. The NA mod is a much faster machine and better looking by all respects. Better acro due to shorter wings and Harvard aileron bellcranks.
