Well the time has finally come . Time to purchase my Ferrari! Im interested in purchasing a 90-92 Ferrari 348 ts red/tan; 20-30K miles; A recent 30K major (engine out/timing belt) service would be a definite plus. Clean carfax/Auto check. I would like most service history (receipts/documented) and a PPI will be conduced prior to final sale. Ive seen some decent examples go for around 48-54K (individual sellers, not dealers). Im well aware that there are many 348 ts on the market. But, I seem to be spending (and wasting) more time chasing advertised excellent condition vehicles that end up being not as advertised. So, I thought the forum would be a much better source for some quality leads. If anyone is currently selling, are considering selling, or know where I can find a clean, well maintained, priced right 348 ts, please drop me a line! Also I wanted to say THANKS to all of you F-chat members! Ive used the search function to find answers to the majority of my questions (maintenance, parts, insurance, previous owners experiences, etc.). I appreciate everyone sharing their knowledge, ideas and experiences. This is an awesome forum!! Thanks in advance for all your assistance! Frank
It seems like everyone is looking for a 348 lately. Here is some light reading, courtesy of No Doubt and friends. http://webpages.charter.net/aircover/348/1994Ferrari348Spider.html Good luck on your search.
Thanks for the info PAP! Much appreciated. To further clarify my original posting, My "ideal" mileage would be 15K-25K.
Good luck in your search. I have a 1990 348 TS and what an awesome car!! I will never sell it until the time I am ready for a 360.
How 'bout a mint (literally) 1992 red/tan 15k mile car for $70,000? j/k it's not for sale. Pap348 made me do it
Frank, Send the ones you pass my way. I am actively looking for a 348 with all the guidelines you mentioned. Thanks, Dean
PAP, Its been a nightmare to find one that is good to go. I found this one: http://chicago-motor-cars.ebizautos.com/detail.aspx?iid=1124465&anchor=/1992/Ferrari/348TB/COUPE/ But it needs the major service to be done, 1/4 light is on, window motors changed, sticky switch panel fixed and some minor stuff. Still looking!! Dean
For those of you looking for a 348, I would offer these thoughts: 1. I wouldn't sweat a 348 needing a 30K service. Just make sure that you deduct appropriately from the price (at least $6000). Afterall, many of the much bally-whooed 30K services out there are incomplete or questionable. Plus, if you have it done yourself, you have the peace of mind knowing that it was done CORRECTLY. 2. As for the "slow down" lights, sticky interior parts, etc...these are very common items for the 348 and most of the time are easily remedied. You can fix sticky parts in an afternoon. If you want a museum piece, prepare to pay a premium. Or buy a car with some a few items that need a little TLC heavily discounted and create your own museum piece.
I saw that car mate....... As ernie said, stay away from that POS!! I spent along time looking for mine and I only looked at a few over the year leading up to it. When the right one comes along, as long as its sorted and you are happy, then pull the trigger on it. In the meantime, dont lose hope. I almost did. But im glad I didnt.
I have a 1992 (9 of 100) 348 Ferrari TB Series Speciale with 10,000 miles as close to showroom condition as you will get. I just recently had a minor and she runs excellent. It is great to read that very few 348's showed up at the Monterey show. It is a classic and is gaining in popularity. I am not surprised that it is the most desired to purchase as of late. Again, I repeat do not sell this car short, I would not sell mine for less than $65K and most likely would not part with it for less than $70K. I agree the newer Ferrari's look like jelly beans and all newer cars out there today such as BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Toyota, Nissan, Infiniti, etc. I think the 348 is on its way to being a desired classic if not already because of it looks / lines. Frank, That's right... but I can't find a good one with a good price. I am increasing the odds by adding TS... I really want a TB though! Thanks, Dean
I am confused - I thought only SS had exposed tail lights - this one modified? Also, when did Ferrari start painting the lower bumpers to match the car color?
According to the dash plaque it is a SS. It must be an early one. Should have #'d plaque on right front door frame. You should be able to confirm on SS model with any F-car dealer based on serial #. The matching paint scheme started with the SS model.
