This one is beyond me. I bought a new oven that was to be delivered last week on Monday. At 10:30 that day, I get a call and the guy said "It was not on the truck"........WTF? That's the best this guy could tell me? That was all he knew and there was no way to find out why it happened or if the next shipment will be late. I tried to call customer No-Service on their 800. I could not get a Service manager, just the flunkee's after a long wait.

I called the store today and asked if the oven was going to show up. The guy said " It will be on the truck on Monday". When I asked him how he knew this, he replied with "That's what the computer tells me". The the corker was when he said "It's the factory's fault, they did not deliver"! I reminded him that I bought the oven from Sear's and NOT from the factory.

I just about drove off the flipp'en road! This is the best that Sear's can do? Don't they have people that can call their suppliers to confirm a shipment? Is this not a standard practice of compitent retailers? I tried to get a customer service manager at the Sear's 800 and none was available. I went way over the deep end over all of this. I could have spit nails and punched out a horse I was so pi$$ed off!

If it's not there on Monday, I'm showing up with some friends!

I have canceled my order with Sears, purchased a like unit from Home Depot and sent the following to the President Sears:

Mr. Brent Hollister
Sears Corp.
President and Chief Executive Officer
500 College St. East
Belleville, Ontario
K8N 5L3

Dear Mr. Hollister; December 9, 2005

I am beyond upset in regard to the service I have received from Sears through my local Sears store. Two weeks ago, I purchased a new oven. It was supposed to be delivered last Monday. Around 10:30AM on the morning it was to be delivered, I get a call from the local store. They stated that the oven was not on the truck and it was the factory’s fault. I reminded the sales person that I made the purchase from Sears NOT Jenaire. The sales person did not understand this concept.

In a call I placed yesterday to the local store to expedite the delivery of the oven, the sales person told me “The oven will be delivered this Monday”. When I asked him how he knew this, he stated that was the information in the computer. When I asked if he could have Sears call the manufacturer to confirm the delivery, he stated that Sears does not do this! I just about passed out hearing this!

WHAT THE F**K Mr. President of Sears? Is this the way you condone good customer service? Is there no vehicle in place in which an order can be expedited? In a few attempts to call a customer service manager at Sears, I was plagued with being left on hold. When I finally got through to a customer service person, the customer service managers or supervisors were unavailable to field my call.

Because of the above, I will cancel my order with Sears and make the purchase at Home Depot. Sears can shove the oven and their lack of customer service up their a$$. High up in your crystal tower, you should take a minute and try to call your 800 469-4663 customer service center and pose as a disgruntled customer that would like to talk to a manager in customer service. At that time, you may get a clue as to the experience I am having.

In short, Sears has shown a high level of incompetence that does not come close to at least the minimum standards of the level of service that I expect to receive for a major purchase.

Regards,

In the early 1980's Sears was practically bankrupt over this and similar issues.
Maybe they've been bought recently by Dell.

The executive secretary will censor it and water it down if not thrown in the trash. Cussing at the President won't get you squat. Sorry to say, he probably won't even get that letter. You did the right thing and canceled your order. Why pay for incompetency?

Cussing or not, the letter will probably not get any attention. If I received that same letter regarding MY business, there would be some major butt-kissing going on. There should be no difference between how I handle customer service issues from my company (That only does about $3.0M in retail sales business) Vs a large company like Sears that is a wee bit larger!

A year ago my mother wanted a new sewing machine. My mom gave her Sears credit card number to my sister who went to the store and picked up the new sewing maching, so far so good, but wait! A few weeks later my sister receives a Sears credit card in the mail (with my mother's CC# on it) in her name which is completely different than my mother's name!! My sister promptly runs up a 6000.00 tab because she's a bit cc challegened. The bill, however, is sent to my mother (who is 89 and living on SS). I couldn't believe it! That a company would issue a credit card with someone else's number to another person without checking with the card holder first. I told her she should get nasty, but that's not her nature so nothing was done to Sears for their mistake.

HA! Just ask Darth! He knows me well!

I canceled my order with Sears because they were late and could not trust them with 'It will be on the truck next Monday'. I placed the order for a more expensive oven (Double door convection) with Home Depot last week.

I called Home Depot today. The guy that helped me at their customer call center answered in one minute. He took my order number and confirmed with the Jenaire distribution center that my oven was on a truck in S. CA., on it's way for an on-time delivery AND gave me a manifest number for the carrier!

Here's the kicker! Sears told me that they would charge me a 15% restocking fee because I canceled my order! What balls they have!

Bottom line: Sears has no customer friendly system in place to track an order and advise their customers of the status. Home Depot DOES have a sytem in place to take care of this. Again, how can a company the size of Sears deliver such dismal service and still stay in business. Amazing!

In two words, They Lie!

They will lie about anything to get a sale. It happened to me when I bought a vacuum cleaner from them and a another time when I bought a lawn mower. Oh yeah! 20% off rebate on any mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine. Three weeks later no 20% rebate. It has a Techumseh engine.

They also came close to getting me on a TV purchase until I checked out a spot down the road.

They made promises to my brother (in the NW) about prompt deliveries of the refrigerator, washer and dryer to the new house by move in day but wait!!, "I'm sorry, the fridge won't be here for two weeks, it's in OKLAHOMA!"

I refuse to enter the premises ever again.

The story on the vacuum,

"Open a credit card account with us and you'll get 20% off this purchase."

I think great, I'll just pay it off when the first bill comes in and cancel their 24% card. I called the credit department and canceled the account.

A year later guess what? The account was never closed! It took repeated phone calls over two days to close it out. Finally verified by my CreditNotify service.

Don't even get me started on Walmart. Another blight on local business communities.
