After the cancellation of the Chinese GP now Vietnam, Bahrain and Melbourne are in question as well: Their countries might not allow foreigners from Corona affected countries in. Speculation is now that Zandvoort might become the first race of the season.

    Scary.

This could become catasrophic for F1. If several GPs are cancelled, there will be a budget shortfall for Liberty.
TV channels must have clauses in their contracts to pay less, in case of cancellation for "force majeure".
There could be less money to redistribute to the teams, meaning that some could be at risk.
Not a good start for the 2020 season.

Although the Netherlands currently has no Corona infections and neighboring countries Germany and Belgium only a few, if it spreads like in Italy the situation might be very different on may 3th.

Chinese GP has been postponed not cancelled.

Honda has announced their Japanese personal are travelling to the UK after testing and it would be wise the Italian teams do the same.

The threat is currently contained in Australia and some people are being quarantined for 2 weeks. If the Italians leave now they should be ready for the race.

Unlikely they would cancel any of those events unless a new outbreak like Italy happens in said countries.. That being said the Serie A games in Northern Italy are still going ahead this weekend under closed doors even tho some games were postponed last Sunday.

They could run the races without live spectators and just show it on television. They would also quarantine all the teams so they had no contact with locals.

The thing is, you don't need to travel abroad to catch it.
Simple contact with someone who has been abroad is enough.
At airports, they desinfect thoroughly all aircraft before turning them round, but it may be already too late.

I'm starting to mentally write-off my trip to the Dutch GP. Including the expensive ticket. Health isn't worth the risk. :(

I think you are talking about the model for all sporting events in future ...
With the development of TV, that would be quite feasable.
When the Olympics were in London, I benefited from free tickets to watch 2 minor events, and realised that I could follow better on TV at home !

By then, they could have found a vaccine for it. Mind you, May is not so far away.

I'm not in the medical field, but from what I've read we're 12-18 months away from a vaccine for this one. Some trials could start sooner, but it takes time.

When I become the CEO of Liberty I'll let you know :p

A lot of the soccer/football games in Northern Italy are being played behind closed doors this week.

You can hear people coughing in the background, they should check them for corona  Forza Inter :D

Now that would be funny, maybe Greta can be on the poster :p

They never discovered a vaccine for SARS and that was over 17 years ago (tho no reported cases since 2004) and still no vaccine for MERS from 2012.

It looks like they have some sort of treatment for coronavirus, as many people recover for it, thankfully.

Any virus seem to have a lifespan, after which the epidemy goes away.

Yup ..It's on my doorstep, they have shut a school down very near me!, kid school trip Italy they brought it back with um.

Reminds me of a quote from Blackadder: Bloody explorers, ponce off to Mumbo Jumbo land, come home with a tropical disease, a suntan and a bag of brown lumpy things, and Bob's your uncle, everyone's got a picture of them in there lavatory. :D
