So I collected my new toy on Tuesday-308 QV UK spec - and had a leisurely 1-1/2 hour drive home. Towards the end I was consciously relaxing my shoulders. I knew I was not standard Ferrari shape being 6’ but with a long body and correspondingly shorter legs! To sensibly depress the clutch I need the seat slightly forward: and reclined back so my head avoids the roof lining! I need extra support at the top of the seat back (the other cars have much “higher” backs as does the couch etc!)
Before I get creative with medium density foam to made a removable “pillow “( as I don’t want to attack the seat ) have others come up with a more elegant solution? Searching produced nothing though I may be looking in the wrong place!

One option I found is Corbeau sells a replacement seat mount that fits a 328 or 308. The new mount will support any new Corbeau seat if you are up for replacing what is there with a modern seat. I actually bought the mount thinking I could put my stock seats on it, but that is not the case. But it does fit any new Corbeau seat which are way more supportive. The mount also works a lot nicer than the stock Ferrari seat rails.

    Cheers

Maybe give those aftermarket lumbar support cushions a shot? They're made to fit different car seats and could give you the extra support you need. Oh, and have you played around with the lumbar support settings in your car? Sometimes just a little adjustment can make a huge difference.

Thanks. I’m dithering- originality or comfort…. But so far trying with pieces of foam to try to determine the best shape (which would give clues as to what I’d need in a Corbeau replacement.
AFAIK there’s no lumbar adjustment- just distance and seat back tilt. I’ll check but I don’t think they’d invented seat comfort in ‘85! As above the problem was not completely unexpected hence the stock of foam As a proper car I have a BMW and specified every seat option- it’s the most comfortable seat in the house!

We all seem to be different in the way we fit our 3x8s.

I am also 6' but with long legs. I too have to scooch the seat forward to fit (which certainly is counterintuitive). It has caused a habit where I now adjust the seat in all cars so that I am closer to the pedals than I used to be.

As for seat padding, well, that needs to be individual. Personally, I find the 3x8 seat to be extremely comfortable. Some people find the seat to be horrible.

I'm 6' 2", and coming from a 348 TS to a 328 GTS, one thing I have noticed is that the 328 has a much deeper footwell than the 348.

I could fit in the 348 fine, but I had to have the seat right at the back of the runners, and the seat back tilted back until it was just off the bulkhead behind the seats.

This meant that there was no way at all I could drive the car with the targa roof panel off and behind the seats (fortunately I was able to find a soft folding targa top that I could store on the "parcel shelf" behind the seats, which solved that problem)

With the 328, I have the seat around three notches from the back, and there is room for me to have the targa top behind the seats and still be comfortable ( I do have to have the seat back tilted a couple of positions more upright than is perfect for me, but it's in no way uncomfortable)

I wondered if I was just me imagining that the footwell in the 328 was deeper than the 348, so spoke to the sales guy at the independent Ferrari specialist where I bought my previous 348 from, and he confirmed that the 3*8 GTB's/GTS' do have deeper footwells.

Something else I have noticed is how snug around the hips the 328 seats are. I don't have a big bum, and I find the seats are a tight fit (I have to take my wallet out of my back pocket, otherwise I don't fit in the seat ).

One of the oddest parts of 3*8 GTB/GTS seat design is the head rest, which is so low, even at it's highest position, that it doesn't really serve the function that it was designed for (unless you're a short driver of course)

I'm 6'4" and I initially had trouble with the 328.
You'll notice that, due to the wheel wells, the seating position in a 3x8 is rotated slightly, with your feet more inboard than your bum.
I have to tilt the seat all the way back to fit under the roof.
With the targa top behind the seat, I wind up with my forehead above the windscreen.
    (Driving cap! ;))

I used to hit my knee on the dashboard all the time, when I first bought it.
But when I shifted position to heel&toe, everything dropped into place.
No room to fidget, but a comfortable ride.
(Especially compared to the rock hard seats in the EVO. ;))

My only problem now is when I get out, having to stand up from my bum sitting a couple inches off the pavement. :p

(It's scary driving the 328 among monster SUVs where their windows are above the top of the 328.)

I think everyone faces this issue when they first get into a 308 and in my experience/opinion it's just something you get used to. When they designed the car they said sure, we can make it look like that but you're going to have to sit like this. What I found was that when I'm in the right position (which is reclined and moved forward far more than I initially thought it should be) the instrument gauges are perfectly centered in the upper half of the wheel and are all visible and I can easily press clutch and throttle pedals to their full extent (which are both longer throws than any other car I've ever owned) I'm a normally proportioned 175 pound six footer.

So I'd say give it a chance before trying to alter anything.
