I believe all of our cars have two levers to fold the seats forward: one near the hinge and one on the upper side. The one of the upper side uses a cable down to the lower lever. My cable broke. I have the lower and long part of the cable out but have not gotten to the top part. If I had the whole thing I think I could make one or have it made at a bike shop. So a couple of questions:
    - Does anyone know a part number or original source of the cable (maybe whole lever)?
    - How do you take of the seat back off, the smooth semi-hard back cover? I've had seats out and separated at the hinge but I don't see an obvious way to remove that cover piece from the upper part of seat to access the the upper lever. (where the broken cable end resides)

    Any help appreciated.

The same problem occurred on my car recently - the small block on the end of the cable came off. I have no solution yet, but would like to know how to remove the back cover of the seat.

Aidan, it looks like we are on our won with this on. I'll likely pull seat out of car this weekend and see if I can get the hard back off. I'll let you know how far I get.

The parts diagram for the seats shows the components of the seat, and therefore, what can be taken apart. I've not done the job, but I would start with trying to remove the back covers of the seat #23 and #24 to gain access to the cable

The #cable is 257-66-434-00 (DS) Right and 257-66-435-00 (SN) Left

I'd try the usual suspects for the part (s)
Ricambi, Ferrparts, Ferrari UK, Eurospares, Ted Rutlands etc.

    Or have a replacement made

Remove the seat from the car. Remove two small screws at the base of the hard leather piece. Remove the headrest and carefully pull out the two plastic sleeves that hold the headrest; they are what really hold the back in place. The horseshoe piece now comes away. The cable will be attached to both the seat and the removed piece so have a 8mm nut driver handy to loosen the clamp. The cable can now be removed top and bottom.

I think it might be possible with the seat in the car and just remove the headrest and sleeves and work in the tight space with the bottom screws still in place (tiny mechanic might get them out in the car).

    Now to find the parts.

Thanks Ken. Very helpful! A bicycle repar shop might be able to supply new cable.

I thought about bicycle or moto shop too, but the lower ring fitting might be tough for them. Also, I am not sure the length and top fitting as both vanished. I sent 3 emails for price and availability (2 new and one used) so I will see response tomorrow evening.

Eurospares has cables. Only 6 pounds for left and 4 for right (???), but minimum order is 10 pounds.
