Anyone know a source for the seat belts installed in the American cars? I don't know how many styles were used, but I've seen the majority of cars having the 2 piece belts that have the shoulder part hardware engage into the tongue of the lap belt.
Trust me on this one: Do not even think about using the standard lap only belt. In the best case, you'll only smash your face as you do a face plant. In the worst case, you die. If if were me, I'd go ahead and mount and 4-point racing harness. Dale PS And a fire extinguisher.
Hey Doc.... One of mine was color changed in '81, I could get the tag info for ya, if you want...I sent a PM with my cell #, call and remind me this PM....
I don't know about US-spec cars, but last year I sent Nerodino (Graham) some photos of my original UK-mandated 3-point belts so that he could approximate the appearance working with currently available parts and materials. The end result looked pretty good, as I recall. Definitely one area where originality is secondary to safety.
DD. Yours are original to the car. Don't even consider replacing them. If you want to get them restored, then www.ssnake-oyl.com can do that for you. But when they do, make sure they attach the original tags to the new belt material. Only problem? You'll be without them for 6 months. Why do you think I didn't get them re-done? You could buy some nasty replacements and hang them in there while you wait. I think superformance has them in stock, along with dinoparts.de. Don't worry about it, they'll hold you just fine. And if they don't, well...... DM
Oh, I just remembered there's a little trick to the passenger side belt. Hold the red button in while inserting the tongue, then let go, it'll stay in just fine. dave
I figured that out. You know the belts are fine. Its the buckle plastic cover part that is broken up. I'd like to fix it.
that might be a job for Verell. OF course you know you can completely switch them out without penalty at concours, right? DM
