This will undoubtedly incurred the wrath of a few for the naiveté of the question but...

The seat belts in my 348 spider no longer feel the need to retract fully, I've been looking to find a replacement pair (shoulder (and well, lap belt if possible too)) but as of yet have been unable to find any for sale, any suggestions?

These guys got a 348 spider in a month or so ago and the belts were in it when I saw it. Give 'em a call they're good guys.

Do you have the mouse belts? do you use them (leave them attached to the mouse track tab)?

No ridicule? Shocking! I have a renewed sense of faith in the F Chat community.

saw1998 - thanks, I must not be Racimbi web site savvy just yet, when I went there before I couldn't navigate it well enough to find them but I followed you link and there they are.

CopterJon - definitely liking the idea of price shopping this one out (1K USD for the shoulder restraint)

TheOnlyest - I do have the mousebelts and I leave them attached, I've also developed the annoying habit of wrapping the belt around the steering wheel when I get out, I dont think thats helping the belt retraction matters much.

The reason I ask is, I have a set that I could sell you cheap. But they have been shortened so that they don't sit in the console
when not in use, but they're no longer long enough to reach the mouse track tabs. They are from a ts, but as far as I know, they
are the same on the spider... and I don't know many people with 348's that havn't disabled the mouse belts.

I just went through this and found a great place that can supply you with a matched set and new webbing for both lap belts for about $300 total including freight. Perfect fit and they work great! The web site is http://www.ssnake-oyl.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CONTACTUS. They turned around the seat belts in 2 weeks. Ask for Mary see was great, they just did my 348 and tried to reuse the seat belt unit (retractor) but they are not able to rebuild the units so they sent brand new retractors with fresh webbing. Also if they can't rebuild (which they most likely will not) they take your old "nose" and add it to the webbing so from the persons point of view it looks factory. The standard webbing from Ferrari is 9 track on the lap belt and 5 track on the shoulder sections, they don't supply the standard 9 track so I went with the 5 track for the lap belt. No difference in quality or weight bearing. Also if you want to change colors no charge when they reweb. I didn't as the yello was a little off to the factory yellow.

I would always like to use factory parts but at about $800 total it was just too much. SSNAKE OYL rebuilds or supplies to many classic car restorers so they are no slouch.

    Good luck.

Besides that, I highly doubt that the seat belt was crafted at the Ferrari factory. Like all other cars, a Ferrari is an assortment of parts and pieces from around the world. Delco alternators, klippan air horns (you can find one of those at Harbor Freight), who knows what else.

Which leads me to the bigger question: Just what IS crafted at the Ferrari factory anymore? The engine block?

I'd be willing to bet a dollar that a lot of this so-called factory Ferrari stuff is made in Germany, Japan, or China.

Doesn't work for a late model Spider, they have a lap belt and a different shoulder belt. Could be retro'd but with drilling in the body and welding in a lug to support the bolting of the third point. I don't know if all spiders have the system that my 95' has but I still would go with SSNAKE Oyl to supply new retractors and webbing that is designed to fit the car with the extended seat webbing as the belts mount under the seat and to be able to bolt to the factory locations.

Sorry just saw the added two point, that design does not have the retractor and is just webbing. The seat belt on a spider mounts under the seat and is extended as such. Now this may be different for other models but I recall (maybe incorrectly) that the web was for a spider. I don't think I would like a seat belt without a retractor but to each his own.

    Well I finally got around to taking out the seats to send the belts down to snake-oyl (thanks first ferrari) for repair. After getting the seats out, not too tough, I wind up stripping two of the three bolts which hold in the belts to the passenger seat belft in. Imagine my shock when I turned over the drivers seat and saw the third bolt completely drilled out and only a nub left. Questions to the group;
    1. Why would the previous owner have tried to remove the seat belt, if they were replaced, they must have been cheap since this will be the third set on the car. Also take a look at the drill work the guy did to get the head of the bolts off, looks like he was shaking all over the place.
    2. Suggestions on how to get the stripped bolts out and find repacements?

    Not the best pictures, sorry.
