For those with the racing seat lifter option on their 812's does your seat move when you are taking off from a stoplight or under braking? I am feeling a slight shift in the seat every time I take off from the light and also from a stop. This is just normal driving around and not hard take off's or stops.

No that does not happen with mine. Sounds like your seat isn't locked into place. Have you tried to move it when stopped?

No. No movement. Seat is locked in place once adjusted to preferred height and distance. Would suggest moving the seat a little to see if you can get it to lock in place. If not, could be a problem and would suggest having it looked at by dealer.

I currently have the seat on the lowest setting. If I lift the seat up I am feeling even more movement.

My other cars also have racing seats but without the lifter (458, 488 pista) and I've never felt any movement.

Looks like I'll need to have the dealer check it out.

I am feeling the same. Seats with lifter seem to be less stable than those without or the old version with bolts and brackets. My service center confirmed as well. Surprised others have not commented on the thread.

A related question, please - I am getting an 812 GTS and will spec racing seats. I was not planning to get the lifter. I will be the only one driving the car and I'm tall, so I want the seat to arrive (fixed) in the lowest position, and as far as possible away from the steering wheel. Could anyone confirm it does in fact arrive like that?

Normally the CF seats are fixed in one of three heights. Those can easily be adjusted by the dealer. Unless something has radically changed, that's how it's been for the CF seats for a while now. I've yet to experience a car with a CF seat lifter. From what I'm told, the lifter makes it impossible to get the seat as low as it would normally go without it. So a CF seat with a lifter will end up at a minimum height similar to that of the regular comfort seats.

The newer cars optioned with lifter have a lever and you can adjust height without taking seat apart like you described in the above.

Yes, that I know. But I was told at the dealers that the lifter change the minimum height due to the lifter design. I've yet to see the lifter assembly for myself, but that is what I was told.

Beware of yanking on the lifter handle while you are seated. Handle is fragile and can crack. Didn't happen to me cuz I'm only 150lbs. But happened to a friend who is heavier. I was told to adjust while out of the car, then hopping back in each time to confirm height.

Mine have the lifter. Works great. The seats are stable and I am both big and heavy (6’6” 260lbs). Also, I seem to recall that in order to get racing seats you were obligated to the seat lifter. I don’t think you can spec racing seats without the lifter.

So, I just looked at the order guide, and while it does not list racing seats as “only with” seat lifter, I seem to recall that to be the case. Caution, I could be wrong.

The lifter is definitely not a must. There are three 812SF cars at my dealer currently, all with racing seats, and none of them have the lifter. The lifter is simply an option and not a must.
