Hello to all, I've pulled the passanger seat out of my wife's 96 F355 Spider and I see that the unit is together but it lacks the proper tension so as to turn the potentiometer. So my question is it ok to WELD TOGETHER THESE PARTS as I've read others do, or is there another way to resolve this issue, or better yet is there any aftermarket parts to repair/replace the potentiometer?

Any and all help is most welcomed

    Cheers
    Roger

Roger. I had a similar problem with my top / seats about 4 years ago. My pot was previously repaired with epoxy. i engineered a solution which I believe is permanent. i followed a previous thread (referenced in my post) for access, removal and electrical measurements, etc.

I am not sure welding will help, as there needs to be some flexibility in the interface between the gear / ball and the clip. The pin I used forces the two pieces to rotate together while maintaining their ability to wiggle a little bit as the parts turn.

More than 4 years later and countless top up / down cycles and there hasn't been a glitch with the repair (knock wood).
