Hi all After two previous repair attempts, the drivers side seat adjuster in my 1979 308GTB broke again today - the toothed section right where I need the seat is just too worn out. On the upside, I managed to secure the seat in a slightly different position so I could finish my Sunday blast! An internet search is not showing up much in the way of replacements (that I could see). I don’t suppose anyone has overcome this issue before (eg modifying parts more readily available), or knows of a source for a replacement? Otherwise I will need to attach boxes to the pedals like the kid in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom . Thank you.
I got a complete rail assembly a year or so ago from https://www.dinoparts.com/de/ used, but in good shape. All the rollers and ball bearings were present and installed correctly. There's also a thread on rebuilding the seat rails on a Mondial (pretty much the same as in my '75 Dino) here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/mondial-qv-seat-rail-fix.482074/ If all the bearings and rollers are present you can rebuild the slots by welding extra material on the slotted section and forming it to the correct shape. I did that fix years ago, but discovered my rollers and bearings were missing, and the latch couldn't fully engage so I decided to replace the whole assembly. You might also try parts recyclers like https://exoticautorecycling.com/ or https://www.allferrariparts.com
See my post here in the cross reference thread: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/149038506/ -- essentially the Fiat 124 seat rail is the same, but you need one threaded tab welded on to it to make it work
I went through this a while ago. Here is the string. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/drivers-seat-frame.643269/#post-147975987 Corbeau makes a replacement 308 frame, but the catch is you have to use their seat. If you are looking for a seat upgrade and do t care about originality, it is a great way to go. I ended up repairing my seat runner, but you can buy a new one for about $350. Link to Ferrparts exploded diagram is in the thread. Also check out T Rutlands. Still tempted to get Corbeau replacements once I get my car sorted.
