I have a question for those who have worked on the seat belts or interior trim on the TR. I did not notice when I purchaed the car that the top corner of the trim above your shoulder and a little behind, is not snaped in on both sided. I did a little looking and the plastic pins on both sides are broken/stripped and the frame part that receives the plastic pins was bent in..I believe by some moron tried brawn versus finess. I was able to pull the receiving (female) bracket out to where it should be but the pins no longer hold. I also have found a second snap in pin halfway about in the middle on the window at the top. My question, how does the rest of that trim piece come out? more pins and how many? Can the plastice pins be replaced? Any other solutions to get the trim to look good? Thanks in advance as every time I post you guys have solved my challenges.

The door trim is also held on by one hidden screw behind the visor head liner section. With the plastic fire trees and the one hidden screw removed you slide it to the rear off the two front clips.

You will need to remove the sun visor head liner section to get to the hidden screw. The hidden screw is in the black tab to the rear of the windshield and outboard of the sun visor.

The sun visor head liner held on by the front sun visor screws and clips.

Thanks Jim for the great directions and pictures. The odds of me getting that off in one piece without your directions and pictures is pretty low. The leather is in great shape but I just can't get the ...as you call them..the plastic trees... to hold as they are broken off. Once I get the trim off is there a way to replace just the "plastic trees" so I can put it back on snug. And if so, any idea where to buy the plastic trees?

Call Ricambi America (336) 499-2500 or T. Rutlands 800-638-1444 to try to get an original OEM part - they are not shown in my parts manual so I can't give you a part number. Or go to any large auto parts store with the Ferrari TR part for reference and look thru their part catalog's interior fastener section and find one or more likely 5 that will work for under $1.

Forgot one step - you need to remove part of the door seal to release the front bottom section.

I thought there was only 2 sliding clips holding the front section but in the picture of the drivers door frame I see 5.

Then look up and notice how bad the dash shrunken leather looks, the seat leather & other interior parts need re-dyed, the door windows are kind of slow and then just keep going till you TR looks like mine.

Thanks for the pictures and information. My car now looks like these pictures. I'm also repairing and re dying the leather. I have a few questions. Did you have any trouble aligning the two fasteners with the holes in the frame when you put the door trim back in? I noticed my frame brackets were bent down from someone trying to push it on too hard when the fasteners were not aligned. Anyone feel free to answer. Also, I notice the very tip of the door trim that goes in tword the windshield the leather has pulled back exposing the sharp metal tip..do you need to fix that or is it hidden when assembled?

How do you remove the trim around the back windows as the leather has faded bad and I don't want to guess how it comes off. Your previous directions were spot on.

    Thanks,
    Tom

In the morning I will take some pictures of the rear window trim pieces and the attachments.

The lower window trim & the rear shelf is bolted on with 2 bolts each into the engine compartment. The nuts in the engine compartment are 7mm. You can access the lower window trim nuts with a small ratchet and 2" extension. The bolts holding the rear shelf are attached to the upper luggage strap holder, thru the shelf and the nuts are located over a foot forward of the plastic grill. I do not see how you can reach them unless the engine is removed or the plastic grill in front of the bonnet is removed and you lay on your back on top of the engine reaching in, so decide to wait till I did the engine out service this spring. I have been waiting on Robert Hayden uprated quill shaft before starting.

As for the rear side panels http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=351120&highlight=trim

    thanks Jim,

Great pics. I noticed something interesting in your previous picture of the headliner piece that the visor attaches to. When I removed the visors on my car, I thought it was strange that the back screws on both sides were loose and not attached to anything. I though maybe something was missing in my car as the front screws anchor into aluminum. now I see in your picture that there are flat fasteners? I went to store and got some as previous mechanic must have lost them or did not know they were there when taking it apart. thanks again.

Can anybody post a picture of the door opening so i can see how this seat belt is working?

Do you usually take those belts off and put on Euro spec seat belts?

I also wonder about the black plastic that is on the rear fender close to the exhaust on US spec cars.

Why are the belts like they are and what purpose does the black plastic on the rear bumper have?
