joined FerrariChat today. Have been reading, enjoying and learning from the threads for the past few months.

I have been interested in Ferraris for many years and have had a few chances to buy older models (250 & 330 2+2’s) over those years, but other obligations always got in the way. Typically “coulda, shoulda, woulda”. Now able to seriously look for that first Ferrari: 308 GTS/B carbs, 308 QV GTS/B or 328 GTS/B.

Although Vancouver, BC is home to a number of Ferraris, few of the aforementioned models come up for sale. And, asking prices seem to be more than in the US. As such, I am expanding my search and am considering importing a car from Washington or Oregon.

I would appreciate any recommendations regarding who might perform a pre-purchase inspection in Seattle and Portland. Information on reputable brokers in Washington or Oregon would be welcomed as well.

    Cheers

There are three shops in Portland that I use for my cars. Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo is the local dealer, they are very good, especially on newer cars. They do plenty of 308 work also, so no problem there (I believe Kelly, the service manager, owns a 308).

ATD is a guy who specializes in Ferrari work. He is working on my Boxer now. Very good with older cars and Weber carbs.

The Jag Shop is owned by a guy who used to work at Tonkin, and does quite a bit of Ferrari work.

Any of those three would be fine for a PPI on the cars you are discussing. All of them tend to get booked way in advance, so I would go with whoever could do it on your schedule.
