I saw this picture coincidentally after reading a book which tied a nice historical thread through the history of F1... I read in "The Limit: Life and Death on the 1961 Grand Prix Circuit" by Michael Cannell, that Countless Von Trips, Wolfgang's mother, knew that Wolfgang had imagined a karting track where young Germans could learn to race, and that she had it constructed after Wolfgang's death. I knew that Ralph and Michael's father operated a karting track but the book went on to describe that the countless leased the track to he operated by Rolf Schumacher..... I assume that's where this photo was taken? edit: I meant 1999. I cannot change the thread title, I tried. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, that picture is taken at the Kerpen track. Nice one I was there in 2001, the year Liuzzi won the Karting World Championship title. Michael was a guest driver that weekend.
Forgive the typos in my original post, especially "Countless"... I guess my cell phone auto corrected Countess.
There's another one from 1995(?). Surreal that they where competing against each other now. Well, maybe not competing as such anymore due to the poor quality of the Merc...but still!
There was a picture of him karting a year or two ago; I think Bild published it. If I recall, they got in a lot of trouble, some German law that does not allow photos of minors without consent. They also had him racing under Corrinna's maiden name instead of Schumacher....
Which is good. Don't let the kid suffer in the shadow of his father. He should play football instead.
There are plenty of sons of F1 drivers who got an easy pass into racing and/or F1. Some even won WDCs, some just sucked. We don't know where Micks at. Besides: there is Ralf...
