Glad you're enjoying your Lotus at The Glen. No offense, but the Loti are just "moving chicanes" to someone who really knows how to drive a "regular GT3" at The Glen.

I was running 1;58's in my stock 991.2 GT3 on Hoosier R7's and have no doubt the car had more in it if someone decided to take more liberty with the curbing at the exit of turn 1/entry into turn 2 and through The Bus Stop. My GT3 could easily go flat right from the exit of turn 1 all of the way up The Esses until hitting 165mph before braking for The Bus Stop. Been tracking there for over 20 years and never came across a Lotus that came close to someone who knew what they were doing in a GT3.

The Glen is a Hp track, LR is much better suited for a light, low Hp car like a Lotus.

Ah but mine is not a "normal" lotus, its the exige v6 cup, so more like 350-380 hp Depending on temp and 300 ftlbs but also 2300lbs. The downside is the manual box as there are simply less gears and sadly like nearly all road derived boxes the gears get taller as you go up.
Yes its flat from turn 1, but being manual shifting from 4th to 5th between 2 and 3 is not possible so you're banging off the limiter untill you're coming out of 3 on the bridge and the car is unloaded enough to shift. Then 5th is too tall or there is not enough Hp, so while you're hitting 163 down to the bus stop Im just cracking in the low 140s. All power and gearing in a GT3 easily explains the 8 sec difference between our times.
Im my regular NA elise thats a 2.19 car. Best time Ive seen in a contemporary lotus is Elivan in a fully Gt4 specked exige which was 2.03-2.04.

Of course I have to push harder elsewhere to be in the hunt and speed canot be wasted given the power and gearing deficit. Traffic is always a variable, plus i dont have a whole lot of systems to bail me out, just some basic traction control. The fun is in extracting a much as the car can give. or as Jeff Andretti told me, the car can drive its perfect lap, can you.

There are some well developed intercooling and aero mods i can doi to my car to get another 100hp and real downforce, but then it takes you to the next weak link which would be transmission cooling, and if youre doing that why not alter the final drive for 3-6(its a twin shaft box). Or why not just go for a z06(different animal) or find a Gt4rs, but then on 4rs youre into redeveloping the suspension.

its question for me, keep developing myself and the lotus platform or go to a new platform, yeah a Gt3 has it all, but at over 300k realisticaly seems betetr to just geta pure track car.

yes there is a vast difference between drivers and thats always the biggest factor in lap times of say like or similar cars.
