The date has been set this year for my second annual get together at my house: http://www.rodneydickman.com/show/ The date is not set in stone but it will probably not change. Andreas will be out of town so the two weekends prior are out. I hate to chance going much later because of the weather or earlier as many may have plans for mid/late August. I am hoping this date does not conflict with any other events or peoples plans. Please let me know if it is but there seems to be little chance of changing the date if there is. I hope for good weather again as we had last year. Last year it rained for a week before and rained the day after but the day of the get together we had great weather. I will again provide food and soft drinks and bottled water and a couple cakes. I did not think the food was that great last year (hired a local caterer) and now with this experience hope to do better this year. Posts from last years get together: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137935 Open to all exotic cars. Ferrari, Lamborghini, high end Porsche, Pantera GT40, etc Hope to everyone there Carla will coordinate the Lambo's from the Chicago Lamborghini Club. Andreas will get the Ferraris together from the Chicago area. Rodney Dickman 1990 348 TS (Maybe someday a 1998 silver Lamborghini Diablo SV)
Just received the trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place of the people's choice awards. They are truly beautiful if I may say so myself. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Only a few weeks away. For the moment I am using 50 for a head count for the caterer. Last year we had about 45 people attend or so. They use generous portions so that should handle 60-70 or more. Last year we planned for 60 and had over half of the food left over. Food will be better quality this year. Rodney
Slight change in plans: FOC will not organize the drive since we have so few people interested in doing it. However: The local Lamborghini club will organize a drive to Rodney's place, so look out for Carla's posts. Alternatively you can of course drive to Rodney's home on your own. Just PM him for directions and time. Everything else remains the same: Rodney still holds his lovely event and FOC will still organize the concours for all cars participating.
It is all I can do to try lately to keep the lawn/golf course somewhat green. We have had like no rain for 2 months! Looks like I'll be watering 24/7 for the next week and a half or so. I did that last year and a 3-4 days before the get together it rained non stop. The day of the get together last year it did not rain. It started raining the next day again though! It was all I could do to mow in the muddy slop last year the day before the get together! As you can see my neighbors yard is basically all brown. Carla has done a great job getting Chicago and IL owners together. It looks like around 30 or more from Chicago and IL. This year there may be over a dozen Lambos. Last year I believe there were four-five Lambos. Rodney Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I always miss the late season events due to vacation schedules. The last track days and this event once again. Oh well, I'll be driving back on the 14th. Wait, I'll be coming down 94 past Milwaukee. Would you consider a 30' rental motorhome exotic?
Food is ordered. I have talked to the caterer that this may be canceled if the weather is bad. They will work with me if that happens. Most of the food will be frozen and not thawed until late Friday but they need to order it by Tuesday at noon. If I cancel they would be able to use most of it for the other catering they do. This caterer does a lot of catering. I've told them I will pay for anything they could not use. Only fair thing to do. Time will tell. I've been watching the weather forecast and it changes daily for this coming Sunday. I could look in the future to do the Cousins sub thing or something similar as they would be made that morning but I like the sit down lunch thing. Any weather forecasters out there? Last year it rained for several days straight but was sunny on Sunday. We'll see what happens this year. Rodney Dickman
And for all you guys my girlfriend will be helping with the food as she did last year. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like rain all day Sunday so this is a no go. Sorry. Next year it will be in August. We are looking at still doing this in a few weeks. I'll talk to Carla and see how she feels about doing it on the 28th. Depends again on the weather. My girlfriend works every other weekend so next weekend is out. If I do look to do it on the 28th I will do something like the Cousins party sub thing. That can be made up that day or the night before. Plus I would not need to look to rent all the tables and chairs. I would still look to do the sit down lunch again next year though. Rodney
Weather permitting next Sunday, Rodney will host this event on the 21st of September. If it rains next Sunday too, then it will be pushed to the 28th of September. Please RSVP by posting or a PM to Rodney or myself.
I've talked to Carla and my girlfriend. We've decided to try and do this on an upcoming Sunday. My girlfriend works every other weekend but she can sneak out at 10 on a Sunday. I would then do the Cousins sub thing or something similar. That can be ordered last minute. I would not rent any or just rent a few tables and chairs. So it would be a last minute decision depending on the weather forecast. It could be this next weekend or any Sunday after that depending on the weather forecast. If you can make it great. If not then "oh well maybe I can make it next year". Next year I would look to do it in August as there is a much less chance of rain. The turn out this year may be less because of the weather this year. Let's hope for better weather next year! Rodney Dickman
According to the weather man sunny and 74 on Sunday Sept 21. No rain in the forcast for Sunday. http://weather.aol.com/main.adp?location=USIL0539&zip=60035 http://weather.aol.com/main.adp?location=USWI0110&zip=53108
