Damn it. I so want to go...!!!
Wow, that didn't take long! I just went out to let the dog in and it has changed to darker skies and about 3-5 degrees cooler. It isn't raining but the sky is completely cloudy now. Looks like we might just catch the tip of a shower down here in the South (Charlotte) in the next 30 or so minutes and then get a break for a couple hours at best; then after that... well, see for yourself: http://www.weather.com/weather/map/interactive/28277?from=36hr_maps&zoom=8&interactiveMapLayer=radar (you might want to zoom out a tiny bit [it really does not take much] to see what I mean for later) Cheers & Hope to C U There! Even if but for only a bit. C Chuck Hawks, Facilitator, Pro-Driver, Instructor & Coach DreamsFulfilled, LLC & rEvolution Performance Driving System ©
Wow... If you zoom all the way out on that RADAR map I posted, you'll see that all but no one on the entire planet is getting rain - except the system that is over the SE US - i.e. our neck of the woods. Go figure... [-< C Chuck Hawks, Facilitator, Pro-Driver, Instructor & Coach DreamsFulfilled, LLC & rEvolution Performance Driving System ©
We're actually seeing a break in clouds again at the moment. We may squeak by with little wettage... (for now) Also, if you get here and it looks threatening and you're freakin' out, I've got 2 garage slots that I can offer anyone who wants them. I'm about 3-4 miles or so from the restaurant. My cars aren't afraid of a little rain I'll gladly give their home to some fine machinery if so desired. been raining on and off here in lkn. roads are very wet w/ little hope of drying. when is the rain date...next weekend?
Can't you guys just 'beam' your cars down here? The sun's back out and based on the current map, I think we're safe for a while with only a threat of a sprinkle. We've yet to get a drop! At least for now... I'm headed down there to see who's shown up. Cheers, C Chuck Hawks, Facilitator, Pro-Driver, Instructor & Coach DreamsFulfilled, LLC & rEvolution Performance Driving System ©
Besides Daniel, You're the 'Krylon guy' !! COME ON!! Chuck Hawks, Facilitator, Pro-Driver, Instructor & Coach DreamsFulfilled, LLC & rEvolution Performance Driving System ©
I was the Krylon guy, that's true. But I am also the guy who dropped $37k into my car during 2007. Consider my perspective "changed".
8-O $37K! Dayum! You must be going for the cans of Krylon with Extra Bling!! You are bringing it up on Monday, right? I want to see this baby, it must be super sweet!!! C Chuck Hawks, Facilitator, Pro-Driver, Instructor & Coach DreamsFulfilled, LLC & rEvolution Performance Driving System ©
No more rockin' chair car cover holders for you! Which I really did have nothing to do with, BTW. I actually thought you'd done that for some strange reason. I had no idea you'd been punked, or by whom. Did you ever find the culprit(s)? I did, however get a picture of it... Nice turnout at the Motori today, incidentally. Lots of F-car hardware (only 1 challenge car though ) The Grifo, and the Miura S did show, even with the threat of inclement weather. A Supperleggera, Murcialago Touring, and the LP640, The Maz Gran Turismo (but no Cambio) A whole gaggle of Ducati and other bikes. And just as I was leaving a group of loud American chopper guys were showing up. Hopefully to enjoy the eye candy... FCI had some nice rides that Ronnie said will be coming to VIR - including an F50! I was surprised to hear that T.W. said he might come (didn't see him though) and that Mr. Snow was not there... Alan from High Rock was there telling and selling memberships, etc. Great stuff! It had just begun to drop a small drip every 10 feet or so as I left, so hopefully they avoided getting wet altogether. Yea, there was a little drizzle at the end but not even enough to get the Lambo people to put their tops back on A good turn out I am just sorry it was not a prettier day!
Fantastic pics.....thank you for sharing! It was my first event and my thanks go out to Kevin again for the notice and kind invite.
where might one find these pictures? Chuck Hawks, Facilitator, Pro-Driver, Instructor & Coach DreamsFulfilled, LLC & rEvolution Performance Driving System ©
Awesome! Thanks for the link. Great pics! I regret not coming inside to say 'hello' to everone... I was too stunned by the extra special eye-candy and then ran out of time and had to hit the road. Thanks to all that brought out their awsome Italian machinery, Kevin for coordinating, FCI and Sport Auto for bringing their setup and cars, and 131 for hosting! And Don for telling me about the event! Cheers All, C Chuck Hawks, Facilitator, Pro-Driver, Instructor & Coach DreamsFulfilled, LLC & rEvolution Performance Driving System ©
What a great day! Even with ominous skies threatening, the vast majority of registrants "rolled the dice" and it certainly paid off - we had a great turnout and a ton of fun!! Special kudos to the Alfa Romeo group - this was their first year of involvement and EVERY car registered made it, so "Alfa Row" was nicely filled out - we look forward to having them again next year! Thanks also go out to those who gave their time to help out with the "operations" this year - Brian & Del Caughman for checking off registrations and fees - Eric Chasnoff for putting out signs and other side jobs - Todd Albaum for making sure everyone had voting ballots - plus Chris Carlsen and Wes Pope of 131 Main for being our generous hosts once again! As I'm sure many of you are curious, below are the voting results: Ferrari Classic 8- Cylinder: Kevin Fielden 1984 308 GTSi Quattrovalvole Ferrari Modern 8-Cylinder: Bob Curtis 2004 360 Spider Ferrari 12-Cylinder: Fred Woltz 1969 365 2+2 Lamborghini: Tim Mullins 1972 Miura S Alfa Romeo: Barry Ward 1987 Spider Quadrifoglio Specialty Italian: Darren Frank 1969 Iso Grifo Motorcycle: Jim Calandro 2006 Ducati S2R 1000 Monster Children's Choice: Johnny Szuch 2008 Maserati GranTurismo Ladies' Choice (tie): Tim Mullins 1972 Lamborghini Miura S Darren Frank 1969 Iso Grifo Best in Show (tie): Tim Mullins 1972 Lamborghini Miura S Darren Frank 1969 Iso Grifo Again, thanks to everyone who made this another great event!!
