Looks like Jaime will keep his seat and any rumors of Bruno to STR are untrue. Carol Toro Rosso are set to retain Jaime Alguersuari for 2010, once contractual niggles have been ironed out, with the Spanish teenager set to partner Sebastien Buemi again from Bahrain. The news was confirmed by Red Bull's motorsport consultant Helmut Marko, who also flatly denied rumours linking Bruno Senna to Alguersuari's seat. 19-year-old Alguersuari replaced Frenchman Sébastien Bourdais at the team from last year's European Grand Prix in Valencia, despite limited single-seater experience. Speaking to Manipe F1 at the 2009 Italian Grand Prix, Alguersuari said he fully expected to retain his seat for 2010. I guess it's logical - I'm here because of 2010. I wouldn't be here if I arrive after half the season with no testing and no tools to defend myself, Alguersuari said last September. Now, speaking to Italian website 422race.com, Marko has revealed that Alguersuari is Red Bull's choice for the seat, with an announcement due once the final contractual details are finalised. It will be Alguersuari. It's just some contractual details that have to be solved, but our choice is Alguersuari, he told 422race.com. I don't know when the official announcement will be, Franz Tost [Toro Rosso team principal] knows exactly when. Marko also denied rumours putting Bruno Senna at the team in place of Alguersuari. According to the rumours, Senna would take up the seat at Toro Rosso should his first team Campos fail to make it to the grid in Bahrain. It's not true. I've never heard about it, said Marko.
Bruno was IMO a known mid-fielder. STR is not looking for cash so a Senna-plus-cash deal wouldn't be a priority. They made the right choice. Shopping time is coming to a close.
He was an unknown. I dont remember any slams. Not taking anything from Bourdais. Too many drivers, not enough rides. Except for this year. Lopez; Who'd a thunk ?
Type in Jaime under search and look at the responses. He was a punk, he was too young, he was inexperienced in open wheelers. It seems only those that drive for Ferrari at some point didn't come in too young or too inexperienced. Raikkonen had 23 car races before going into F1, and Schumacher came from a totally different style of racing. Alonso drove for Minardi at 19 or 20, but he didn't turn out too bad. And neither did a 19 year old Ferrari fans covet for their car. That would be Vettel for those who can't figure it out.
