Symbolic just asked me if there would be any interest in a monthly Sunday meet in their new service facility in Sorrento Valley. They told me that the new facility will have parking for more than 100 cars. They are also willing to give tours to their restoration shop. What do you guys think? Would we have enough interest to do another meet like our Carlsbad meet.

IMO, we finally would have a place to hold a meet without having to think that we are going to get kicked out. We also get to check out the cool cars that Symbolic is currently working on. I think it's a great idea, but of course, it will all depend on what the majority think about this meet. Feedback please....

i live about 2 minutes from there, im sure my dad wont have a problem bringing the gallardo down there. also, that place is effing awesome. my dad and i got "the nickel tour" of the place right after my dad bought the gallardo, and o man i was in heaven. the mechanic area had 2 diablos and a 959 among others, the resotation shop was finishing up polishing the body of a restoration of a beautiful 365, saw many historic racers (the 1947 indy 500 winning car etc), a porsche speedster, and got the see the wherehouse where they store the sweet cars...barely even room to walk between 70 or 80 ferraris/lamborghinis/elises/bentleys/rolls/ etc. even had a 40th anniv. jade murielago. awesome idea, im sure were in

I'm in. Awesome idea. I live about 5 minutes from there. Hopefully, this will bring more Italian cars to these gatherings by shifting to this venue.

i've never felt as if we were about to get kicked out. that said, pioneer already offered to host the saturday one with free donuts, coffee, etc but i declined figuring people liked the current central location and lack of commercial influences. as well, 100 spaces isn't enough.

fwiw, i'm usually out for sunday stuff personally.

i'm not sure it would hurt anything to have a sunday one at symbolic as well. it would be best though to schedule it mid month (ie: 2nd sunday of the month) so we can keep them both well attended and have something to do every two weeks down here.

    all imo of course.

As long as there's a lot of room ... I'd go. I think it's more central than Carlsbad.

Is that near or in La Jolla if I'm not mistaken (the Symbolic restoration facility)?

Also prefer Saturdays. Nice of Pioneer to offer, but they can't hold over 100 cars either can they? Haven't been there since the remodel.

Symbolic's restoration facility was worth touring. I agree with Ben that they should have it mid-month if they want to do it. Is the new facility going to be on the same street?

True that the Carlsbad location isn't the most glamorous, but I don't see anything wrong with it. Reasonable breakfast food available, decent space, close to the freeway. Long as we behave, we shouldn't be kicked out.

    JD,
The current restoration and service dept. is on Sorrento Valley Road.

no objections at all about the location (only 2 minute drive, cant complain), but unless they use the normally gated-off area for parking, which usually has cars moving constantly between areas, then the remaining parking area can hold maybe 30 or so cars. ill stop by tomorrow on my way after school and get a better feel, cuz i havent been there in 3 weeks.
also, i would prefer saturdays too because we have church on sundays. sundays can work, cuz church is 5 mins away plus however long my mom talks for so i might be able to catch the end of the show. anyways, id prefer saturdays but its not a huge deal. thanks

The carlsbad meet was supposed to be on Sunday but everyone needed it to be on Saturday. So I doubt that a Sunday one at Symbolic would have a big turnout...

I work late on Friday nite. Midnite. So even CC on Saturday is a PITA. I welcome a Sunday meeting place.

If Carlsbad is on Saturday, might as well go Sunday with the 'Symbolic' gathering. I'm sure we all have reasons why one day or the other won't work, but maybe we can all make it at least once every month.

    BTW thanks for organizing this.

i stopped by on my way home today and i dont see how they think they can accomodate 100 cars unless they open up the service transfer area. i took some pics if anyone doesnt know where it is and wants to see the place

They just purchased the adjacent building. According to Symbolic, they could probably hold much more than 100 cars.

Symbolic is willing to do a Saturday or a Sunday. I suggested Sundays as I thought another Saturday would be competing with CC. Yes, the meet is planned for mid-month. This way we have a meet every other 2 weeks.

Donuts and coffee were mentioned in the original conversation with Symbolic. I did not mention it as I did not think it was a big deal.

I know some of the guys there, they are a professional outfit. But, donuts and coffee? You are handing them a large group of potential clients on a platter. I like Carlsbad better. Its neutral.

Since I live in Scripps Ranch, I usually just take Mira Mesa Blvd. all the way down to Sorrento Valley Road. Wasn't too fun last time I went in for service.

    Another suggestion?
