My car has no muffler so it's very loud. I'll try again later. I'll even use a stethoscope on it.

I got it all installed. I will edit the how to remove post above as a couple things I forgot came to mind on the install

The pump comes on when the car is started. Not on ignition only. It makes a high pitched whine which is distinctive and not a normal sound from an engine. If you aren't hearing the whine reach down and wiggle the connector. In my case I didn't hear it and sure enough my suspect melted connector is still intermittent and on wiggling the pump came on

I timed it for two minutes on cold start. The car was outside and it's hot here so not winter kind of cold start but hot summer cold start.

I'm going to source the connector and pins and will add them to,this thread in case others have a similar issue as mine did. I definitely have never heard that whine before today.

If it's that loud, the bearings may be bad. Mine was running coz I could feel the suction

The suction is very mild but you can feel it. I don't here yours at all. Use the battery and give it power with the car off. Be sure to watch the polarity since it's DC

And that is where you loose me!!!! LOL, I could get it out, and I can hook it to a battery, but you loose me when you talk about the whole polarity thing.

Polarity is positive and negative terminals. Red is positive, black is neg. you can do this with in the car but you will need some long alligator clips.

Haaa, ok, that was probably a stupid question. I knew that I guess. I was thinking you were talking about watching amperage or something. What size wire can I use?

I sourced and replaced the connector on my air pump. It is a Delphi Metripack 280 connector and because of minimum order size from this company I bought two complete assembles and have an extra if someone needs it. Let me know.

Below is a pic of the parts of the connector and the Delphi part numbers if anyone needs to order this connector in the future.

Now I hear the whine at startup and will keep an ear out for it as there is obviously a design and or overload issue with this system that caused the connector to melt.

How much, mine is not working but I have not had time to mess with it. I will buy it for insurance if it's not outrageous.
