I see reference in my owners manual to a secondary ring to be pulled if the normal front bonnet release does not operate.

I find no such ring on my car.

I do see a round, metal cased hole, about 1/2" diameter, under the dash below and to the right of the oil temp gauge.

Is this where this ring and pull cable is supposed to go?

I suppose it would be a good idea to replace it with something, as I don't know how you would get the bonnet open if the main latch cable broke.

    Thanks,
    Doug

Nope. that's where your trouble light plugs into (I use it to power my GPS for now)

keep looking; they can get tucked up in the wiring behind the clock / oil temperature guage

You can find some of these lights on e-bay. Think saw one the other day for about $80. They should come in a small pouch.

In additiion to the one in the front, there should also be one in the rear behind the driver's left shoulder for the rear deck. I replaced both of mine recently after I started to think about how I would open the decks if the primary cables broke. Consider that for a moment.
