My neighbor just took the factory tour, and learned lots of interesting but little known tidbits about ferrari cars:

    1) Did you know ferrari's are designed to leak? This expunges the bad oil, and by topping it off, guarantees fresh oil at all times. There is an assembly line operator at the factory whose job it is to randomly poke holes in gaskets, and to loosen various bolts. This is done with great precision, and is usually undetectable.

    2) Another specialist adjusts the speedometer, to make sure it conforms to required specs. If it isn't +/- 20% or reality, it gets rejected...

    3) Their design team, was also busy at work. They are designing a new belt system. The belt consists of wet noodles impregnated with flour and white glue. It cuts down drag, and is tinted ferrari red. Belt change intervals may decrease though, and you are required to boil the belt once a week.

    4) The manifold guys were also hard at work, trying to figure out how to improve the 355 ones. Turns out superglue is thought to work, and is quick to boot. The new training manuals will be out on this soon. Its a 7 hour job (6.5 hours to open the glue, the 1 minute per dab...)

    5) Also saw some of the techs lubing the window mechanisms, with this big jar of mollasses :)...

Bored at work, can you tell? Any other ferrari secrets out there?

    6) In an effort to ensure lightning-fast shifts at all times, the solenoids in the F1 transmissions were designed to shut down rather than operate at less-than-new performance levels, thereby guaranteeing perfect operation at all times

    Thank you kind sir.

I recently uncovered another trade secret (partially inspired by another thread):

    7) Ferrari has such tight quality control requirements that their cars are designed to self-destruct via engulfment of flames if the integrity of the vehicle is compromised in any way
