Weissach, August 24th -- Almost 25 years after Lotus introduced the Esprit Submarine Mark 1 in the James Bond Film "The Spy Who Loved Me", Porsche has been spied testing this 996 Turbo based personal submersible vehicle (PSV). The PSV team has been in Pocono, Pennsylvania doing high speed on-land runs and low-speed water surface tests.

"The unique NASCAR oval lets us fill the infield with water. We can keep the track surface bone dry and have a deep, calm body of water to steer into to test the submersible capabilities.", said Thom Moehringer Vice-President of T&A Racing.

Porsche contracted T&A to design the 997 series cars. Based on that success, they've gone on to other dramatic projects at the Weissach shop like the PSV, Porsche Vacuum (P-VAC), the Porsche Home Pregnancy Kit (P-UHOH) and the Porsche Toaster Oven (PTO).

Said, Tony Nuzzo, the official T&A/Porsche test pilot, "I cannot comment on whether or not the rear-element-heater, water-cooled, convection-oven based 6 wheeled Porsche Toaster Oven exists. But I can say, without a doubt, that if it did -- it'd handle better than my old Boxster and it's look nicer than that old 917 over there. Oh, and the P-UHOH works like a charm!"

The PSV is expected to go onsale in Europe in the first half of 2005 with international sales beginning 6 minutes later. There is no word on North American availability.

Product Marketing specialist Erik Von Badiashcnitz said, "We're not sure if there's enough pent-up rage against Porsche yet, so we're gonna ensure that by continuing to sell only the cool **** over-seas. Once people start doing, 'drive-bys' at our Atlanta office, we'll investigate bringing the PSV and a wealth of other ROW-only product to the United States."

Base price of the PSV has not been announced, but expect it to cost "a bazillion jillion Euros" or "still less than a Ferrari 430".
