I have signed up for a private parking and viewing area for the Historic's weekend at Laguna Seca. It is at turn ten on the bluff above the pits and has a gate to keep the public away from your car while you enjoy the races. It is limited to 25 cars and they have some passes still available.

With the hundreds of millions of dollars worth of race cars that you can just go right up and touch, prey tell what are you driving that could possibly be so interesting that it needs to be locked away from the public eye? It must be something truly special.

My thoughts exactly. Can't imagine anyone messing with anyone's car, there. "Keep the filthy public away".

Special is in the eye of the beholder. I have done a few week-long stays and attended the highlights, and come back with a single thought or memory, I don’t mean seeing a GTO, which is about as special any more as see a Cardashian on TV, but meeting a single enthusiast, getting a lead on a special service provider, learning a service tip, and such. These memorable encounters have often been in places such as the parking lot.

Especially ironic coming from someone with the screenname 'jusdriveit', I think.

I've seen some pretty amazing things left in the General Parking areas at Laguna during Car Week, and at other events held at the track. The only reason I'd pay extra for something there would be to keep my car out of the dirt lots.

I think we all know that if nobody is around and some fool is tempted, "truly special" could be an '86 LeSabre with a forgotten camera full of memories left on the front seat.

It's good place to park your car/stuff for the day, particularly if you're popping back for gear or would like a little peace of mind.

I have been attending the Monterey Historic's since 1978. I know what it's about and how it has evolved. I have exhibited cars on occasion. I prefer the track. The general parking is not controlled as to who parks next to you.

Obviously some people have never come back to their cherished ride (it's not about value) and found that the SUV that was parked in front of you has left a nice crease on the nose of your car before driving away. I have and it ruined whole weekend for me.

Clearly there is no shortage of know it all's here.

If your interested contact: [email protected], she's organizing it.

Ouch!! Sorry for your misfortune. That could certainly change one's perspective.

I'll knock on wood and hope that never happens to me. I can understand why you are taking a different approach.
