Anyone been to this show before that can comment of what type of cars typically show up? TIA http://www.cruisearizona.com/sept15sedona1.pdf http://sedonacarclub.com/events.html September 15th The 31st annual Sedona Car Club Car Show Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Chevrolet & Arizona Statehood
I went once and it was a snooze. Hot, open parking lot, with no shade. The FCA has a decent presence... primarily for the after party at a member's house in Sedona.
Is this the show that is held at the, or close to, the Sedona airport? Whoops! I could have clicked the link. I remember seeing pictures of it last year or the year prior. It was a huge mix of everything, didn't see a lot of exotics in the pictures, IIRC it was mostly muscle.
Wow..31st annual. Wonder how I missed this show all these years. I love to have a reason to get out of this hell hole called Phoenix.
I'm not sure I'll go for sure, don't really want to drive that far. If I do, I'm down for breakfast/coffee - it'll give me a chance to finally give you back the lens!
I screwed up my back a couple of weeks ago...two herniated discs. I definitely couldn't do it today, but hopefully by then I can sit long enough for the drive up there. I love Sedona and take every opportunity to head up there. If so, I'm in for the coffee/breakfast.
So, I'm going to go to the Coffee Pot restaurant at 9AM. I'll be wearing my yellow Ferrari shirt, so if anyone wants to meet up, get there 5 minutes early and we'll get a table for however many show up. It's still summer, so the wait shouldn't be too bad. Show starts at 10 (we might be a tiny bit late.) It's about 2:20 being conservative with speed from central Mesa to get there. Somewhat less from Scottsdale or PHX, of course. Traffic should be light on the 17, but it's a two-lane with roundabouts between 17 and the Y in Sedona, so expect a bit of slow going stuck behind Winnebegos for that portion. The only realistic passing lane is just past Village of Oak Creak, so be ready. Let me know if you plan on getting there. Cheers, Dave
He's not being a Debbie Downer, it's just a lame show. Hardly worth the drive. I'd personally rather watch paint dry.
Why? Because the only thing you area allowed to see in this area this weekend is the car show? Hmmmmm..... Are you wearing IFR blinders while you drive?
Ahhh.... Morning in Sedona. Jon, keep that hood down and your eyes on the paint. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Then, there were a bunch of planes on display. Some warbirds. Several experimental companies selling their planes. What's with the Russian trainers? Must have been cheap to pick up. Biplanes! Yep - I was there...but was in pretty sad shape. My back is screwed up and I was a last minute decision to go. I could only stand for a little while, then over to the chairs in the tent....then could only sit for a little while, then over to lie down on the table by the terminal. then walk for a while, sit, stand, lie down. But a big +1 on all of the reasons to go to Sedona, I love that place!
It has nothing to do with Sedona (the destination). Most of us have done that show at least once, and every year it's 'bake on the tarmac'. I love Sedona. Let me take a charge up 89A and I think most would give the nod, but fry on the runway...... once was enough for me. But to each his own. I promoted it for the guys in the FCA that wanted to go. I'm not sure how many went, but I'm sure the guys that wanted to go went.
Dino hit the nail on the head here! My statement had nothing to do with not liking Sedona. Sedona is one of those places that I love to fly up to in the heli or take the car ripping through the twistys. But hanging out on tarmac this time of year is not my thing. I actually thought about flying up after the paint dried but figured rotor wash, dust and debris would not make me everyones favorite guy Cheers!
I'm up for any weekend road trip but was on vacation this past week anyhow. I gotta agree and say if it was in October it would make for more comfortable situation with no shade. waiting for next event...
