Weather permitting...I'll have my solar telescope set up all day tomorrow (Wednesday, November 8th) to follow Mercury as it crosses the face of the Sun. I will be streaming live images of it to the Internet at:

    www.***********.com/solar

You can find the times of transit and more information at:

    http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2006/20oct_transitofmercury.htm

Do not try to look at the Sun without some kind of filter! My telescope (a Takahashi TOA-150) has a dual-stacked Coronado Instruments SolarMax 90 hydrogen-alpha filter. Stop by and take a look.

He doesn't. In fact, the site isn't even open for business yet (which you'll see if you read the announcements). I would have preferred to use my other domain spacespot.com but that server isn't even up and running yet. I didn't have another server to do streaming video on. I'm simply trying to share an interesting event with folks. Feel free to have a moderator delete this thread if it's a problem.

Not online yet...you should see an image of the Sun and a message saying what time it'll be online. Let me know if you don't see it. I am setting up a second site right now also...there seems to be some connection issue with the hosting company on the primary site. If your image isn't updating (the clock should update every 3-5 seconds) try the backup site at:

    www.mondobrands.com/solar

I seem to have a live pic; just went from color to black and white and now back to color at 11:40:15 MST. No sign of Mercury yet, as expected.
