As of today (1/31/08, because they change photos every so often) if you go to Google maps and look at the satellite view of New York LaGuardia runway 31, there's a UAL 737 that's taxied into position and holding, an AA 737 halfway down 31 on its t/o roll, and then pan east to about a quarter mile past the 31 approach threshold and three's (what appears to be) another UAL 737 on a quarter mile final. However, if you look carefully at the change in water color about 50 -100 ft. east of the 31 threshold, you can see where the satellite photos have been spliced together and thus create the illusion of at least the closest balked approach I have ever seen if not a near immanent collision!

    No prob, Rob!

Funny thing about Google Earth....I looked at my house and the photo is several years old (at least).

Anyone have any idea how often photos are updated?

Google maps still shows the image as of September 11, 2008.

Odd day to be looking up aviation in New York, huh?
