Guys, You have got to check out Spasso's rear engine decklid on his Testarossa on the "ferrari haters thread" in the "ferrari discussion section" I think this would look great on our 308/328 (although not a 12 cyl.) Granted, it would take ALOT of work to make it right with our decklids, but would be fun to try on a damaged or burned lid, (god knows there are too many of those) Either way, it looks Great on his car! (sorry guys, can't seem to be able to drag a pic. to this forum)

Chris Hello! I'm truely a "leave it original" kinda guy but that Testarossa looked really good! I'm with ya man! GO FOR IT!! Provided the final product looks like it was "ment to be" and not just a hole cut with a piece of plexaglass pop rivited in place. Great photo shop by the way, gives you a really good idea what the 8cyl. would look like.

Some of you may remember the Alfa Romeo GT-v6...it had bulge in the hood with a plastic cover, and some owners did romove that and put plexiglas in there. Kind of neat, but it did look kind of cheesy.

I think that plexi panel was oem on a limited edition GTV6, maybe the Balocca? The new Corvette ZR1 also has this. Kinda cheesy, kinda cool.

It went to a VERY good home only 10 miles away. He has taken that car to a whole new level and looks fabulous. I miss it.:(

Find a rear hatch off a burned and wrecked 308 and use the center section out of it in lieu of cutting yours.
I have the stock cover for mine wrapped and packed in the box the CF cover came in. The mod is easily reversed.

Don't want to be too analytical but I don't think you could drive it for any length of time without an air filter. Even if you did the glass would probably be covered in fuel and oil vapor in no time. What are you going to see with an air filter box on the carbs.? Nothing nice really. In this case it would probably look better with the original air plenum visible through glass.

The problem with a see through on a 3X8 or Mondial is the engine isn't really designed for it.

If you look at the newer Ferraris that have them, the engine is really designed to be looked at, with panels, hidden wiring etc. making the engine compartment finished, neat and tidy. Even that TR in the pics above at least has the two huge plenums to take up most of the view.

the 3X8 and Mondi, with their CIS injection and accompanying wiring, hoses, plumbing, etc. just isn't quite ready for "prime time" IMO. Seeing all of that through a clear panel would detract from the look of the car. I'm not saying the engine compartment is ugly, but like a lot of women, it's best left with some clothes on when in public.
