    I am wondering if anyone would be able to tell me if a car was still in existence if I were to give the VIN number to you. I am hoping to find out if the Ferrari Testarossa which my grandfather originally owned is still on the road or if it has been sold off for parts. I have many great memories in the car and although I am not currently in a position to purchase it, I am hoping that it still exists and I can purchase it someday. A small story on the delivery follows.


    My grandfather owned 2 Ferrari's, first one was a 1986 Testarossa which he sold in 1992 with close to 70,000 miles on it. I remember the story of when he told my grandmother and mother that he was buying a Ferrari, they didn't even know what one was, they assumed it was like a Corvette or Trans-am, just another Sports car. My grandmother never even asked the price, maily because she knew what American sports cars cost and also because he had worked constantly for 35 years building up his business and this was his gift to himself when he sold it. The part that sticks out most is that when the car got delivered he was at work and couldn't get away so it sat in the driveway until he got home. When he got in my grandma was in the passenger seat as they were planning to take it out for a ride. He got in and asked what the third pedal was for. He'd never driven a car with a manual and was taught on that car! Sadly the second car was sold in 2001 following his passing, but I have many great memories in the cars with him that can never be taken away. I was still being asked about it 5 years later when I graduated.

    I now tell my parents that I plan to own a Ferrari one day and my dad tells me that I don't want one because the bills to won it are too high, I could care less, I want a Ferrari for myself and could care less what others think about it or me.

    There is nothing wrong with posting the VIN. If you post it, there is a reasonable chance someone could get you some information.

    Hi Dan, The only info I have on 61543 is that it is a 1986 US car and is red on black. If any other info turns up I"ll pass it on.

    Dear Ferraristi,

    Did a google search on the VIN....nothing turned up.

    Was directed to carfax....they say there are 15 records on the car. Anyone have a carfax acct. to run it?

    Thanks you for that information, it shows me that the car does still exist and that allows for the possibility that I will one day be able to purchase the vehicle. I do find the mileage information strange as it contradicts what I have been told about the car when it was in the family. I am glad to know that it is still in one piece and that someone is enjoying it.

    Sorry to be a nitpicker, but the family sold your grand dad's 2nd Ferrari in 1991? After he passed away? Although earlier in your text he himself sold his 1st F-car in 1992.

    I'm probably just reading it wrong or something along those lines. G/L man~

    Lawrenceville is a couple of hours from Atlanta. I bought a old 1960's Pontiac from a guy in the Lawrenceville / Gainesville area back in 1990, yes they do have running water they even had it 17 years ago. Do they have electricity in Austrailia or are you using a generator to power your computer?
