    Hi all,

After almost 20 years ownership, I believe it's time to let go of my 512BBi.
I don't have much time to drive it, most of the time, I'd rather go fencing, running or cycling, so she gets little mileage which doesn't help justify the maintenance costs. Besides I need the space in my garage (for my bikes and fencing equipment.)

She's from 1982, and is chassis number 40729. The car is registered in France but I live next to Geneva.
I want to leave her in a car dealership to handle the sale for me.

I have three options: Geneva, find a shop nearby in France or bring it back to Germany where my dad lives (in Köln), he knows a good place there...

Any suggestion about how to handle this? Any help/opinion appreciated.

    hello julien
where is the problem for you in needing help how or what to do with the car?
as you write the car is registered in france. so in europe. therefor no problem to bring the car to germany. if you like to bring to switzerland then the shop owner there has to import the car to switzerland, otherwise it is not legal even the car is still registered in france. or you may declare the car for temporary staying in switzerland at the swiss custom and have then to pay a deposit what you will get back when the car goes again out of switzerland.

you only may decide at first sight if you yourself like to sell the car or by a dealer. often it is better to sell by privat for a little less than expected than waiting until a dealer will sell it after long time sitting there for may be the same price.

your WWR license plate is a dealer plate? because of the 3 letters? I only know for registration 2 letters, but may be I will be wrong?
you still have the original german "fahrzeugbrief" ?

nevertheless: a own BB I would never sell except I will be so old that I not like to drive anymore or not able to drive.

if it is only a matter of space you need then ask the "auto and technik museum" in sinsheim ( https://sinsheim.technik-museum.de/ ) if they like to have this car for showing to the public. when I once needed space I bring there my 250 engine with gearbox for about 4 years. they not charge anything at that time. if still the same I not know.

if you would like to consign it to a shop in Geneva, then i can recommend Carugati.
if you need an intro to Tiziano, just ask me.

    Hi,

Just to give a few precisions, I was wondering what you guys would do if you wanted to sell. I know, that's a big IF ;)
I am in no hurries, and could wait a few more years but would still like to sell for a good price.

Geneva is probably the easiest way, but the car would need to be "imported". I don't see much of a market for the car in France, since there is no dealership around where I live. The closest would probably be Charles Pozzi in Lyon but didn't have a great experience dealing with them in the past.
Germany would be another easy option, just leave the car with my dad and let him deal with it. But he tells me the market isn't great in Germany at the moment. A bit of a slump in prices on the market...

Thanks for the tip with Carugati, They are among the few interesting addresses I saw in Geneva. I'll probably drive there with the car for a quick chat.

    Regards,
    Julien

The market is great in the USA at present, if the car has no issues it would sell quickly. Why not try a classified listing here on Fchat?
