Sunday morning, not a very nice day, Soooooooooo I will take the rear exhaust Manifold off my 84 Mondial QV.(seemed a good idea at the time) Eventually got all the nuts off without snapping one stud, had to cut a couple of the silencer mounts but what the hey !
But, how the **** do you get the dam thing out, please do not say after the engine has been removed. Is it possible, if so can someone give me a clue ?
    Thanks

Phil as I have said to you, you are a brave man. Hope you manage to get that manifold out.
I am considering using you to do the repairs to my mondial ;)

I can't exactly say for a Mondial, but on my 308 QV- the rear header came out through the bottom frame (after all shields and parking brake mount was removed.

When I installed it- I went through the top. The coolant tank, reaction rod, fuel distributor, and shields need to be removed. Much easier this way.
All is simple to remove or move out of the way. The fuel distributor is mounted with a couple flexible mounts and the fuel lines have enough slack to leave them connected. Just disconnect the mounts and intake hoses and lay it on top of the engine out of the way.

I hope this is similar to the Mondial- should be close? Also- my car is a euro car so there are no emissions things in the way- your car may require more removal.

The photo shows more than you need to remove, but gives the idea.

    Good Luck

From what I know they are pretty much the same, I have looked at mine, poked and prodded for about 20 mins and have come o the conclusion that out off the top is the way to go. I have an interview tomorrow so, tomorrow night I will give it a go (keep hands clean).
Nice looking motor by the way. One day mine will look like that !!
    Thanks form the help!

I've got a mondial engine and box dropped out and on axle stands at the moment if you want to look at what needs to come out or be moved so you can remove the manifold in situ

When we pulled mine from my 77 gtb just prior to the engine pull it came out the bottom. We had to remove one of the sample port plugs to get it to clear the frame rail. As others have said, you also have to clear the rear brake cable mounting and cables out of the way. If it still seems stubborn, disconnect the shift linkage, reaction rod and remove the engine mount bolts and ease the motor on its mounts to provide a bit more access room. More than a little movement will be resisted (and you don't want to strain any of the hoses et al) but may be just enough to clear.

Like Jonathan, went back in the top v easily.

Well, it's out, as the best brains suggested it drops down, bit of a fight, but it's out. Had to remove the heat shield and the injector unit.
Welded up, now, how does it go back ??????????????????
One thing that does concern me is the state of the flanges, they are corroding life mad, pipework is fine, seem very strange.
    Any thoughts ?

Noticed significant corrosion setting in when I pulled my rear header to work on my differential. Had to re-weld a couple of the seams where the tubes entered the combiner.

Sent my rear header ceramic coated, paid extra for a 2nd coating inside. Hopefully that will stop corrosion for a long time. Jet-Hot did it for ~$200 incl return shipping.

Not sure who does quality ceramic coating over the pond, but ask around some race shops, they should know.
