Back when F1 cars looked like race cars.........not aerodynamic devices with 4-wheels.

Gracias! Love the sounds of the old engines. This, Ferrari V & flat 12s, matra v12 were awesome. Now we are going to have to endure fart can-"trumpet"-exhausts. To me it's the quality of the sound, not quantity.

They still can't afford to water it, very little grass there.

I am not so sure...I lived in Mexico during the 90's Mexican Grand Prix and the track was always dusty and with very low grip, not a lot of tracking events during the year to put rubber into the track, plus all the area around the track is not very well landscaped so there are many areas of just pure dirt.

Hope this plays into our advantage since it seems that the MB team is struggling with the lack of grip on some tracks.

I remember the first time that I attended a F1 race there...I didn't want to wear ear plugs...but after a couple of laps, my ears were hurting...the music of the V10 and V8's was ear piercing...you can feel it in your chest...I really miss those days...

No I agree about the blown dust, from the surroundings.

But surely they will have water trucks out to control that??

The support classes will lay down the rubber for the weekend, but fingers crossed a rain storm does not negate the contribution!!!

One of my prefered drivers on my kind of car.

Can we have more of this FIA, instead of the horrors we get now?

I've no idea why they're not calling this the USGP part 1 for this season. Mexico's GDP is bolstered by the US economy in more ways than any other country which is likely the reason the GP exists again.

Great to see the track up again I guess.

The 2nd pic kind of reminds me of Canada and yes the track looks good. Back in the early 1980's the crowds where huge so hopefully this track/race will succeed. Thanks for the pictures.

Ive been to two Mexican Gp's ... while the track was cool... it was a miserable experience overall... between the smog... and the people holding you up ( at knife point) as you waited for your taxi... it was not a great experience. Plus the Traffic in 1987 was un beleivable. more VW bugs than you could ever imagine.

however Chapultepec was kool - Nikko hotel awsome but $$$.

so I've read that Mexico DF is much improved and not as bad.. I hope so. the fans who do turn up - know the sport! I wonder what the cost of a ticket will be... in 1991 - it was like 1.5 months wages... or something. the poverty in Mexico was extreem.

The poverty as far as I know has not changed (nor is the wall high or long enough) so it is a conundrum why Mexico is on the calendar when the Glen (or even Mosport) would be a better choice in my opinion. Oh well nobody said the "powers that be" have a clue.

And other teams will complain to the media that Perez heads into the Mexican Grand
Prix with the advantage of having driven the new circuit in 5...4...3...2...

... in a BRM, plus in whatever categories he drove when he was a teenager. :).

Strictly speaking, he's not the only one that has driven in the new layout and that
with even more dust then... And this is with a Redbull, that *is* really more advantage.
