There is an electric sensor on the inside that can leak. Not a huge deal fix if that is the problem.

If it needs a rebuild to fix the leak (like mine did), check with Ferrari of Seattle. They rebuilt mine 1,000 miles ago and it has been perfect since. My 430 actuator started leaking at 23k miles, fwiw. It also needed new gear selection / position potentiometers.

What kind of costs are involved in a rebuild?

I'm afraid I'm not much help on the cost. I paid high-4-figures, end-to-end. But don't let that scare you. I was the first rebuild they had done and the bill included a bunch of diagnostic labor. It probably also included some of the R&D labor as well. You'll have to ask them for a quote for your particular situation. They also talked about finding cores to rebuild and stock for straight-up sale, but I don't know the status of that either.

Almost forgot--FoS included a one-year warranty on the rebuild.

The outfit in Turkey was selling just the rebuild service for $1500 for another price data point. But I chose to stay local with my business and certainly don't regret it.
