    Ever tried to get maternity health insurance as a self employed individual in TX? Forget it...no way it is going to happen. I am looking for a "group" to join that has set up a group health insurance policy with maternity benefits. My wife and I would like to have kids and I have been a contractor for some 15 months now. I have no maternity coverage now.

    Anyone have any tips here? I swear I saw an advertsiement for an entrepreneur group around here who solved this problem by forming their own group.

    I will need supplemental insurance to put the boys back on after such a decision!

    I am not worried about an uncomplicated birth...I am worried about a 100k premie or other not so fun life savings draining experience. My wife's car is not a 360.

    Good thought though.

    What industry are you in? degree? Some of those professional organizations have group insurance offerings. For example, I think both the IEEE (for electrical engineers) and the ACM (for computer scientists) have group insurance options.
