I searched the archives and found a fair number of references to the use of "self sealing" nuts to stop small oil drips on the studs for the oil pan. However I cannot find the exact size of the nut nor torque requirements for tightening. I have also checked the shop manual with no luck.

Does anyone have this information for an 86 328 GTS.

I searched high and low for seal tight and even talked to them. Couldn't make it work.

Talk to Mike Kuhn @ Norwood's. Ask for Stat-O-Seals. I put them on the pan along with nyloc nuts. It's dry.

    I don't see why you'd need them.

I fitted a Ferrari supplied set of sump gaskets a few weeks ago. I used no sealant anywhere and just standard plain nuts and plain washers. (7lb/ft 10Nm is fine). I was sure to have a clean dry gasket surface before assembling.....and I got the car in again after some road mileage and a track day, and it's bone dry.

The new Ferrari gaskets are green paper, rather tham the old grey ones, and they seem to be very good.

If you have drips on your sump bolts....look higher up first. Chances are its the gearchange seals or dipstick tube or even cam seals, or anything really...oil will ALWAYS drip off the lowest point, it doesn't mean that's where the leak is.......

It is worth doing a nip up of all bolts after a while.
