    Hi,
tonight I offered myself another selfish drive in my F355 and it was good!

I used to ask my son to come with me for a drive, but as a teenager he doesn't enjoy it as he used to a couple of years ago, and on my side I noticed I'm enjoying my drive more without him! :D

I like to drive with a passenger, but nothing compare to a selfish drive.
No need to talk, nobody is telling you you're going too fast, it's too noisy, too windy etc etc...
You're alone in your car, enjoying every bit of it. This is the full experiment.

What do you think about this?
Are you sharing the same feeling?

I used to take passengers but they never really appreciated it. I prefer to drive alone in the style I like best.

Most non- car people I give rides to talk nonstop during the drive and never pause to enjoy it.

Just took the Ford GT for a solo run, which is the norm as the family thinks it is too hardcore (and it really is....LOL).

I've been fortunate to have the opposite experience. My 16 year old niece loves cars and will always drive as my passenger (458 Spider and Portofino M). I will always be a passenger in her 2024 and 1990 Miatas. The passenger seat on the ND is very small, I got pretty bruised on our last spirited drive with the local Miata club. I told her it was a compliment to her driving. We also have two 6MT BMW Z4s where we split driving / passenger.

Companionship and solitude can both be precious. Sure, I enjoy going for a drive with my wife or son in the passenger seat of the 550. However, with them, it seems we usually have to have a "destination" or "purpose" for the drive. Not bad, really and can be fun. I am a very early riser, and most times there is nobody else awake when I head out for a drive. These times are very special, as there is no immediate purpose for the drive, just to enjoy whatever comes along in personal solitude. For company, quite often there is the memory of my father, whose work, self-sacrifice and personal lessons taught to me while I was growing up largely paved the way for me to enjoy what the Ferrari brings.

Well damn, that reminded me of my own father and brought a tear to my eye. Thanks

My wife is a great passenger. We go for spirited drives to places and then stop off for a bite. But I cherish sweet alone drives like the one today. Nothing like a Ferrari NA V12 with ESC-OFF in the hills and back roads around where I live. It is not selfish - it's earned and quite necessary.

I've had family, friends and car enthusiasts as passengers. Some talked, others enjoyed the ride others were constantly glancing at the speedometer.

In any case, everyone was entertained to a degree that they forgot about their cell phone / social media addiction for the duration of the ride. In my book, has to count as a victory.

Visitors to the house like to go for an e ticket ride in the Ford GT…and then beg for mercy.
It’s super extreme. Love solo rides in her.

Agreed, too often a spirited drive in a Ford GT ends up like this....

Ive always worked my ass off and I’ve always had at least 1 great car. My car. My reward. In the early days I would be up at 5am on the Saturdays and Sundays and run the car if I wasn’t working. Be back at around 0800 or 0900 when my family was just getting up. That (and nightly gym workouts when the family slept) was the 10% I would take for myself. Then I would give my family the remaining 110%.

Solo, by myself, at my pace, in my world. Therapeutic and Joyous.

I tell some of the young guys that are up and coming that I mentor to get the car and do the same thing. Make yourself afford it. It’s part of why we are here.
