After many years of Ferrari dreams & desires, I am finally planning on taking the plunge soon and buying an F355. Either a GTS or Spider. I'm going from a very nice M3 convertible, so I'm a tad hesitant, given that there is no backseat in the 355, it won't be under warranty, it will be more expensive to maintain, won't be much faster, won't be as "modern," yet will cost twice as much. Right now, I like that I can occasionally send my wife out in the M3. (wouldn't dare do that in a Ferrari) Are there any 355 owners in the Denver area willing to meet with me to talk about their cars, maybe give me a ride (I won't insist on driving), etc? I just want to get to know the cars a bit better before spending another $40k above the M3. Thanks!
I know alot of "Wifes" that drive the 355, its a easy car to drive. I have a 355 challenge car, so a bit different then the 355 street. I used to own a M3 LW, and loved that car, but loved the FCAR much better. I am more then willing to chat about em, and possibly check with FoD anI am nit sure if they hacve any in, but I am sure someone that has one wont mind a ride around the town. -a
Well I had 2001 e46 m3 convt when they first came out, and e30 and e36 m3s so know as much as any one about the cars. I since got rid of it and got some 911s since then and finally 355 at the begining of the year. I will talk to ya and take out for a spin so you dont go through the things I had with these very expensive cars. just send me a private message and we can get in touch.... Also, FYI FOD wont tell you all the bads about these cars, only the goods so be wary. I can tell you the goods offset the bads, but also $12,000 service after dropping $75,000 on a car can also be called bad (which I did, ouch that hurt the bank account!!!).....hehe Brent
PM me if you want to check out my 355 and go for a ride etc...... I have a 96 355B.....love the car.....had a Z06 Vette before this one...... Good Luck Mark
I had a 99 M3 for a while, also drove a friends 2002. Great cars, but downright dull IMO. A 308 is more exciting, even though the M3 is lightyears quicker. ANY Ferrari is expensive to own, even if not to buy, but they are never dull. Dave
1000% percent accurate! I personally wanted to start off with an older one (348TB for me), get my feet wet and grow into a newer one in the next year or two. No matter which one you get, nothing else comes close to the excitement and joy of owning one! Shop around and get a well maintained car! Just my 2 cents. -chris
That's what the Chat is aall about. You'll find some good F owners who will help you with your questions. Good luck and I hope that we will see you soon in a 355. Remember that on Oct the 9th, we have a Ferrari day at PPIR and you'll have plenty F cars to talk about Roland F40LM
Thanks everyone for your replies and generous offers. I am going to PM some of you, as I would like exposure to as many 355's as possible. I'm especially curious about the difference in feel between the Spider and GTS. I.e., the M3 convertible is horribly flexible. My old TwinTurbo 300ZX had awful squeaks in the t-tops. So I'd like to see if the Spider roof is tight/rattle free, and if the GTS targa roof squeaks. I'm going to spend some time at FoD, and there is also a GTS at Paragon. If you guys hear of 355s for sale, please let me know. Thanks!
At Paragon, Todd Massey left his 97 coupe to sell. It's got all service done and his blue. Check that one, it's a good runner. Roland F40LM
