A good friend of mine is sadly parting ways with his XK8, and I was wondering, what is a fair price for one, that has been garage kept, and covered.

The only addition to the car is the factory boot lid lip spoiler from 2000, and factory cd changer.

I admit, I am not a Jag expert, so I do not know what the market is like for those cars.

I figured you guys would be the best to ask.

just searched ebay... there is a 50k mile 1999 with a 12K buy it now...

If your friend's car has over 70K miles it'll be under $10K

35K on the clock, British Racing (Hunter?) Green outside, biscuit inside.

I am working on getting some pics of it, as our schedules differ.

He has it listed on AutoTrader in Dallas.

I'll put pics up when I have some.

I've seen them as low as $6995!!! yikes.

cool car but sadly no residual value. (like most Jags).

    good luck with the sale.

    Here's a 1999 with 37K miles... no bids at $13K.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ONE-OWNER-37280-mile-EXCEPTIONAL-CONDITION-XK8-CONVERT-/220676741412?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item33615bd924

If he gets a 12K offer he should say yes... $11K may be the choke point. Just a guess...

Million dollar queastion... what's he asking?

    Thats the one.

I will pass on the pricing info to him.

The car is in showroom condition, is rarely driven, so he is trying to maximize off of that.

The no bid at $13k car in the link above looks pretty clean as well...

At least you friend is fairly close to market.

Personally, I'd drive it to a local lot and see if they'll give 12k and be done with it...

He was hoping for a personal sale, but I will pass that on.

I did tell him that the best way to go about selling to an individual would be to take it to Cars and Coffee with a sale sign on it.

I have been looking at these for a while, will probably buy one in the next 12 months for a fun semi-daily driver. (Will probably hold out for an XKR though). If the ad says over 13K, I don't even look at it. A LOT of nice examples seem to change hands around the 10-12K range. I have seen decent ones for 7-9K. There are always a lot for sale, so it is easy to sit and be patient and wait for a deal to roll around. His car looks very, very nice, but I suspect he will have to drop the asking price to at least 13K to even get calls, and then be prepared to negotiate down from there in order to sell it.
