What's your criteria for evaluation?

Have them show up with either a letter from their bank stating they're good for X amount... (this is what is done at some auctions)

...or $200 nonrefundable cash deposit for inspecting the car, applicable towards purchase.

 

Did you try fleabay? Seems like it's less of a personal, tire kicker venue with people wasting your time etc. I know there are plenty of hassles with it but I see the guys that know what they're doing have great success with it.

 

That seems to be a sort of profit generator for certain types of "high line" dealers.

More than worth the consignment fee. Just price it realistically -- the market is saturated with 360/F430s. Dealers are masters at spending time on potential buyers.

Also if you do list it yourself, it's spelled "Spider". Otherwise you will get grief for misspellings in your eBay ad.

 

My solution entirely. They will market it and take responsibility for it. They can get financing for the interested party. It will cost you money but you won't have the headaches.

If a Ferrari dealer won't take it (overstocked, they don't want it), then give it under consignment to a high end used car dealer who deals with other exotics.

They know how to weed out the wheat from the chaff. It's their job. It's how they make a living.

When in doubt, use a professional.

What's the problem? No one drives it but you.. Take prospective buyers for the ride of their life....you have fun, scare the %^$# out of them....If they mortgage their house and buy it...what could be better?!!!

We have had cases where people put an ad in the paper, the potential buyer shows up and steals the car...sometimes shoots the seller.

Is it worth the risk? car dealers exist for a reason. Use them.

 

Consigning it is what I'm doing currently, although I have personally sold the majority of my past cars with reasonable success i.e. significantly higher than wholesale prices. I think the amount of riff raff has increased over the last couple of years, which led to a lot less enjoyment in the sales process. Besides, once you estimate what your time is worth, the cost-benefit may clearly sway it to consigning versus private sale.

 

You could list it exclusively here on Ferrariads and see what happens.

To the OP, no offense, but you don't have any photos of the interior, or a complete list of the factory options or even the mileage listed, at least not in the ad on this site.
I sold my coupe in the fall...a few tire kickers, but that is to be expected...my car sold in less than 3 weeks, with no problems and money wired, and the car was loaded on the truck the next day...i sold it at a very fair price to the buyer and delivered car for a PPI locally. I agree ebay is a decent place to list it. This site is a great place, but details in every respect are desired when selling a $125k+ 7yr old car...

 

As well as sites like this, you could list on club website and in the club magazine.

 

That's all I did when I listed my 355 for sale 2 weeks ago.

 

I've bought plenty of expensive toys. I have no problem with a refundable deposit for inspection, but $200 not subject to... Sounds like a fundraising scheme. I've seen too many misrepresented cars and boats over the years to be comfortable forking over any money that I won't get back.

 

I would think no test drives, let anyone come and look at it, sit in it. If they want to pay for a PPI they can also pay to have it towed to wherever they want it inspected. If they come back with a check or cash let them take it for a drive if they insist before buying it. That's what I did. I came back with a check and while he did the paperwork I had a short test drive with one of his helpers. Just felt better knowing i'd driven the car before 100% committing to it.

 

I would ONLY agree to something like this if I saw that the car was in good shape via an owner provided inspection report. I'm not about to fork over $500 for a PPI (which I would do regardless of the owner inspection) without a basic test drive.

On the other hand, I would have NO issue paying $100 for that initial test drive, and then I would commission a PPI.

 

No. Evergreen and Denver. Never heard of anything like that here.
