All chatters, I am getting ready to sell my 1999 355 GTS F1. Getting some great photos taken. But two questions for the Fchatters: 1. The best place to list it for sale? I am Northern California... Those who have sold their's recently... any good tips? 2. Rough value, and how long will you think it would take to sell?.... It is a 1999 355 GTS F1, Black/Black, mint condition, 33K miles, just had a 30K done a few months ago from FOSV, Gruppe M intakes, Painted Targa top with cover, Hyperflow cats, top of the line Alpine system with Sirius sat, new clutch, speedline wheels, 285's at the rear, ferrari car cover, kept all original parts including the cats, has a leather bra, tool kit, challenge grille, shields, and red calipers. AND did the ECU chip upgrade. One of the faster 355 out there - was able to keep up with a 360 CS. The 30 K service was the second time done to the car over it's history and had more than just that done - water pump, cv boots, and engine mounts, etc. I am in no immediate rush to sell, but looking to buy a place overseas and the money would be nice.... Also, any interested FChatters out there? Carmine
back when I used to broker cars on the side, F355's got the most response from http://www.dupontregistry.com and Ferrarichat.com / Ferrariads ebay, autotrader, and others seemed to be a waste of time. If you also don't mind not having it in your possession while you wait for it to sell, taking it to an authorized dealer will maximize the amount you get for it even after commission and you won't have to deal with the sale.
I sold my 355 Partially due to this forum and Craigslist. Please be aware that your mileage will be a turn off for many, unless its priced right. I sold my 355 for 10K below my original asking price. 355's take a lot of work to find the right buyer. Many people just wanted to test drive/ride or low ball you. Good luck!!
If this car had 10K or 15K less miles I would be very interested. Unfortunately, there are buyers out there that are convinced any Ferrari with more than 30,000 miles is ready to explode(excuse my term). Obviously this is not the case but one has to remember that every car will eventually be for sale, and so mileage has to be taken into consideration.
I sold my 99 355GTS (rosso corsa/black) 6speed 8 months ago. I am in No. Ca. about 40 miles south of you. It had 18k on the clock, alcantera seats, tubi and challenge grill, fresh 30k +++. PM me and I will disclose the details of the sale, I want to respect the buyers "deal" (he is an avid member of this community)and not disclose the details on a public forum.
Right now I have friends in both Tahiti and Costa Rica.. Huge difference in price and location, but I just came back from tahiti looking at property and selling my car is in the cards.
Sorry to hi-jack the thread but, I'm considering Costa Rica as well (Pacific North west coast). How do land prices comnpare in Tahiti? PM me so I don't derail others from your 355 discussion.
If you want to appear to be a serious seller, I would remove "keep up with a 360CS". With only intake/exhaust mods, the only way a 355 could keep up with a 360CS is if the 355 was being pulled by an Enzo.
