Could somebody tell me how to sell gold coins. With the price of gold these days-I would like to un-load some 20 dollar gold pieces. They have been professionally graded Ms-63 and are late 1800's and early 1900's. I would think that they would bring alittle more for nuismatic value!

Hold on to them. Too early to sell still unless you really need the $. The USD is still in freefall w no end in sight which will keep pushing up the price of gold & everything else

There are lots of places that buy gold these days so unloading them should be easy

Ditto what William H says.... but if you really want to sell, virtually EVERY
city has a coin store where you'll get fair market value. Just Google terms
like "coin buy sell gold" with your city name and visit a store or two. I've
bought and sold gold and silver for years at just such a local shop.

    Very true.

For bullion, my local shop is about $25/ounce off CNI prices (both buy and sell). But if your local business offers competitive prices... local is much easier.

I my experience, the shops around here buy at spot - and sell at about the $25
premium per ounce. But it probably varies in some places.

Thanks for the advice but I still don't know how much more the gold coins are worth!

There's a gold coin dealer everywhere you turn and or Google it. If you can't figure out what they're worth after a little research there's something wrong.

99% of anywhere I've gone they buy at spot, sell with a spread. Google "spot price for gold"
and that price per ounce, at that moment, is what you'll get.

Are you guys for real? 99% give you spot price?
not a chance. Just be aware of what you have and its value so you don't get ripped off.

I have sold over 100 ounces of gold in the last 2 years. I was paid SPOT.
When I bought them in the first place I paid SPOT + $25 or $30 a coin.

That's at the two shops I worked with here in town.

    Just relating my own experience.

He's talking graded collector gold coins... not bullion. Different animal.

Thanks Simon- I know what the price of gold is- I am trying to find out what my twenty dollar gold pieces are worth (look at first post) and who will buy them for the price of gold-plus the nusmatic value. I believe they are worth more than what they are paying for the price of gold these days!

I know. They are worth more than spot. Call CNI, in my link above...

This week I stopped into a new consignment gun shop for a look. The salesman said the Colt in the case sold for a gold piece in the 1800s. Sells for a gold piece now. Inflation. Cost = over a k.
