My wife's job is being elliminated at the end of the month and, unfortunately, I think I am probably going to have to sell the car to make things work financially. I'm not fishing for buyers at this point, but want some honest imput on what you guys think is a fair/realistic price for my car (yes I've already seached the archives, however there seems to be a great deal of variance in pricing).

-1992 Ferrari 348ts purchased at Ferrari of Denver in 2002
    -30198 miles w/clear title & clean CarFax
-30k service completed at Ferrari of Denver w/new clutch & waterpump
    -18" magnesium Speedlines w/new Pirellis
-Tubi exhuaust & Stebro euro resonators (still have stock exhaust & cats)
-OEM SF shields countersunk in fenders
-F355 rear taillight conversion (still have stock lights, grill, etc.)
    -alarm/CD/amp/subwoofer/built in radar detector
    -drilled pedals & shift knob
    -painted lower rocker panels
-Nippondeso alternator upgrade and new A/C pump
-new Optima gel battery with quick disconects
-Factory tool kit & car cover

Also, where are some of the best places to list the car and how do I screen potential buyers so I don't have everyone with a pulse wanting to test drive the car?

Thanks in advance for the imput guys (and gals).

I would recommend advertising on this site (you need to be a member). Also, if you are a member of FCA you can advertise in their newsletter and on their web site. This way average Joe's will not be browsing the local paper to find something fun to do (at your expense).

I would figure it's a solid $50K car. That's what it should bring. If it was more of a "stock" 348 (wheels, exhaust, etc.) I would figure closer to $45K.

I would think a little higher. $50k to $55k. but closer to $55 than $50. You can always lower your price. Sorry to hear of your situation. Good Luck to you!

    According to NADA, Low=$46,200, Average=$50,900, High=$57,800.

My opinion is that due to the 30k+ miles, modifications, etc... it should sell for somewhere between $45k-$50k. Condition of the car will matter.

    Thanks for the imput guys.

One last question. Has anyone here used DuPont Registry to sell their car? And if so, what was the cost and how successful was it?

I've never looked seriously at DR to buy a car. I always figure the cars in there are over-priced a minimum of 20 percent. I just look at it to "window shop."

Honestly, your best bets will be:

    Ferrarichat.com ads (free)
    Cars.com ($40-50)
    Autotrader.com ($40-50)
ebay (depends if you auction it off)

On ebay, it is unlikely you would actually sell the car to a high bidder. It is more likely someone will contact you and "make a deal" with you outside of ebay.

I looked into it a few years back. It was around $500 to list an ad back then.

You might also consider "Ferrari Market Letter". I sold two Ferrari's using them. Good luck and be patient.

You might want to consider parting out the accessories before selling the car. Your Challenge wheels is worth $2500 easy, $2k for the tubi, etc.

    Good luck

I agree that you could get extra dollars parting out some of the options. If you advertise in a local paper, I think it will be pooled into the cars.com website. I found a car advertised in the sun-sentinel (Fort Lauderdale) through the cars.com site. I think the 'modifications' would bring a small premium, because they are the type of mods that a typical 348 buyer is looking for (mine has the painted rocker panels which I was looking for and now am in search of the Tubi and maybe some new pedals). If I was to guess the price, I would say list it for around $55k and look to get around $53k. For reference I just bought an 89 348ts w/ 22k miles all stock except the painted lower panels, and the major service incl. clutch just done for $47k.

I think it's only worth about $10k or so. 'Cause then I could afford it :)

OK, but seriously, really nice looking car. Wish I was in the market for one...
