I am selling my 1992 512 TR if anyone knows of anyone looking for such a vehicle. Details are as follows:

I PURCHASED THIS CAR THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR AND WHILE I LOVE THE CAR, I HAVE DEVELOPED AN INTEREST IN GETTING IN SOME TRACK TIME AND I SIMPLY WILL NOT TAKE THIS CAR TO THE TRACK. I PURCHASED THIS CAR, HOWEVER, WITH THE INTENTION OF KEEPING IT FOR A LONG TIME. AS SUCH, I LOOKED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND PERFORMED PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTIONS (PPI’S) ON A FEW 512TR’S UNTIL I FOUND THE ONE THAT MET MY REQUIREMENT (MILES > 10,000 BUT <20,000, RED,TAN, STRAIGHT PAINTWORK-FREE CAR WITH A WELL DOCUMENTED PROPER SERVICE HISTORY). SO AT ANY RATE, I AM CONFIDENT IN WHAT I HAVE AND KNOW THAT IT WILL PASS ANY PPI WITH FLYING COLORS (AS MY PPI WAS DONE JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO BY FERRARI OF DALLAS- I AM HAPPY TO PROVIDE COPIES FO THIS TO SERIOUS BUYERS). LET ME GET INTO THE DETAILS:

    EXTERIOR

EXCELLENT CONDITION. PAINT SHINES GREAT. VERY FEW ROCK CHIPS- VERY FEW. TWO WHEELS HAVE SOME LIGHT CURB RASH. SPOKE WITH ALGAR FERRARI AND THEY INDICATED THEY CAN BE PROPERLY REPAIRED FOR $150 PER WHEEL.

    INTERIOR

GREAT CONDITION. THE LEATHER IS VERY NICE. THE USUAL WEAR CAN BE FOUND AT THE DRIVERS BOLSTER AND JUST ABOVE THE GAUGES ON THE DASH. CARPETS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE REAR SECTION OF THE CENTER CONSOLE IS A BIT MARKED UP AND TACKY TO THE TOUCH. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND THE REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE BEEN ORDERED ($1,200) BUT ARE STILL NOT IN. DUE TO THIS UNKNOWN, THE CAR IS BEING SOLD WITHOUT THE PARTS. I HAVE ALSO LEARNED THAT THESE ITEMS CAN BE REFINISHED WITH EXCELLENT RESULTS FOR ALMOST NO COST). I MENTION THIS BECAUSE ALTHOUGH I WAS UNWILLING TO DO THIS, IT IS AN OPTION THAT HAS PASSED CONCOURSE JUDGES CRITERIA.

    MECHANICS & SERVICE HISTORY

THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE RUN PERFECTLY. STARTS WITHOUT ANY HESITATION AND IDLES PERFECTLY. REVS CORRECTLY AND PULLS VERY STRONG. ALL UP TO ALGAR FERRARI STANDARDS. THE 30K MAJOR SERVICE INCLUDING THE CAM BELTS, CLUTCH AND WATER PUMP WAS DONE NOVEMBER 11/27/2001 BY MILLER MOTOR CARS (FERRARI OF CONNECTICUT). THE MILEAGE AT THAT TIME WAS 11,423 SO THE NEXT MAJOR SERVICE IS DUE IN NOVEMBER OF 2006 OR 26,500 MILES. SINCE THEN THE OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED ANNUALLY AND THE CAR HAS OF COURSE PASSED ALL EMISSIONS AND STATE INSPECTIONS.

    OTHER

THE CAR COMES WITH THE TOOL KIT, BOOKS, SERVICE RECORDS, AND K-40 RADAR DETECTOR. THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, SERVICED PROPERLY (AND DOCUMENTED) THAT HAS BEEN DRIVEN ENOUGH TO AVOID THE GARAGE QUEEN ISSUES BUT NOT OVER-USED AND EXTREMELY WELL TAKEN CAR OF. PLEASE CALL (215.370.8877) OR EMAIL ([email protected]) WITH ANY QUESTIONS WHATSOEVER.

Nice car. Do you have any interest in trading down to a nice 89 348 with 22,xxx miles (red/tan)? I might be interested in trading up.

The ebay link is correct. Plenty of pictures there (resolution too high for posting here). I too am interested in trading up (550 Maranello) so I wold have to pass on any partial trade. In terms of price, not exactly sure. Ferrari Market Letter has a few and none of them are asking less than $100k (even at higher mileages). I am more resonable about this and would sell to a real buyer without any concessions at $92,000. Let me know if anyone has an interest or knows someone that does. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. That's a good deal. I will have to discuss adding the car until I sell the 348 with the wife. If it gets the committee approval I will contact you.

Look up "Bruce Wellington" on this site-- he trolls the NY section as well as off-topic- he's expressed interest in getting back into the TR family (he has a TDF 550)

Dang Kenny, don't encourage him. Obviously you want to get a 348, you are just confused right now. 550??? Get a real car man! 348 all the way baby! Any other lunatic ramblings that might convince you to go cheaper??? Oh well, good luck in the search. Maybe if there are no takers (which I doubt at the price you are asking), I can convince my wife we both need Ferrari's.

For some strange reason I feel drawn to 348's all of the sudden...

    But the 550 keeps calling...

Dont do it!!! Dont do it!!! I made that mistake before. I sold a 512TR to get a 550. Big Mistake! BIG. I am back to a 512TR and loving it. I have had 11 Ferraris, and loved them all .... EXCEPT the 550. I guess as Steve put it, the engine is in the wrong place, and it just does not have that exotic Ferrari "feel" about it. It is fast...... but not nearly the overall driving experience of the 512TR.
