i see that tr at 45000$...and would write a check... the 2nd gear syncro is a 5k job...and while there, do the 30k.... so add a 2500 $ parts...all that if no surprises... still...it will always be worth less than an original...

are you a seller ?? steve maman writes the check !

First, reason I dont have time is couple of reasons. 1, time to drive, put about 1200 miles in 4 years, 2nd, if I keep, tend to want to tinker with, so dont want to take my time up looking for parts, bids, which mechanic etc.
On why I would trade, well from previous exp. on cars I've sold, some people got tired of their exotic or collector car, looking for something new, and I traded one time with cash.(he gave me additional) drove the traded car for 2 months, sold, and actually made out better than my asking price.
On 2nd gear synchro, was quoted 2700 by a mechanic I've used on a few of my cars. For 45k, on a 5500 mile car, Ill buy 2.
I always wanted a Testarossa, I thought one of the best looking Ferraris. But at 380 hp, lot of cars a lot quicker, many of them 4 door cars. Here was a Ferrari that had my favorite "look", but at a much higher performance level, at a reasonable cost. I guess to each his own.

Also, I like how you have a 1991 Testarossa, 16000 miles for 99k, yet an 87 with a third of the miles (5500)is worth 45k . I wonder if you bought it for 45k, what would your "fair' asking price be at your showroom.
On a more positive note, I am also from Montreal, moved awhile ago though. Beautiful city.

P.S. I did see the 1991 w/6000 miles on page 2 for 79k, more reasonably priced.

I saw 2 91's @ Ferrari of Denver for 89,900 USD both had mileage @ mid to high 20's at least one of them had 512tr wheels and a Tubi. I'm pretty sure both had major's just done. That said I think the 91 will bring a premium over the earlier years because it was the last year of the Testarossa before the 512tr came out. And since I now own a 91 Testarossa, yeah 90K USD seems like a good price for a decent one. Really nice ones with books, window sticker, tools , records should be 100K plus :) :)

I actually owned an 1990 Testarossa, 13,000 miles, traded in for this car I currently own. I purchased the 1990 for 77k in 2002. Maybe prices went up, dont know. I understand a 1991 will have have a premium over a 1987, but double? I guess this is a public forum, and everyone has an opinion, that's fine. Personally, if I'm searching for a car, and if I find the price high, I just move on,keep looking.

I would say with the 13K miles if service was current ( done less than a year back) that was a fair price for a 90. If I hadn't just bought mine I would be all over yours. I also think that while the Koenig options were expensive and desireable to some ( me included) the car is now modified and modified is a dirty word in Ferrari circles.

You're right. Dont know why, but seems like Ferrari owners want their car original more than other brands. I had a few Porsches, and if the mods were done right, not too extreme, kept its value, not that you got all your investment in mods back. Personally, mods dont bother me. See quite a few F40 people modifying their cars.I know , lets say you're car will need a rebuild at 15k miles instead of 30k because of mods, thats still 10 years of fun driving, for me at least. Also, I consider Koenig one of the top tuners. He wind tunnel tests all his body mods, etc.
Yes, its a Euro model, brought over in 1987, directly from Koenig. One good thing though, weighs 3300 pounds,,pretty light for a Testarossa.

Is it possible to put aluminum or carbon fiber replacement doors on these things to shave some weight?

No idea, but it would be nice to shed some pounds.....

The F40 weighs a lot more in the US than in Europe - Mostly due to a lot of weight they put in the back bumper on the US cars. I wonder if they had to do stuff like that for the TR also? Is there any weight difference between US & Euro TR's?

Did your car have a wing at some point? Just curious, because I remember seeing a Koenig similar to yours with a wing. Very nice car!

I would even be interested in your car, but I am currently going through maintenance nightmares and poor replacement part build quality with my TR at the moment and the thought of multiplying my financial outlay for repairs right now is unthinkable

Thanks.Yes,did have a wing. Didnt care for it too much, even though provided downforce, dont travel at 100mph+ speeds.
