If anyone is interested. I'll give it a little while here and then also post to eBay. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/499439-1986-ferrari-mondial-low-miles-excellent.html
I notice your ebay bidder has 0 feedback, hopefully that's not problematic. I'd be interested in the car (nice example and geographically close), but honestly above my price point, considering what is already in my garage. GLWS
Hi Mark, Other than the picture of the car with the baby-seats in the back, are those pictures recent or are they from when you purchased the car? Thanks! 2cam
Looks like this would be the one to buy. Good luck. The price for this car looks to be very good for what one would be getting.
2cam -- They're from last fall. Happy to take and email some additional photos. PM me with your email address and let me know what angles you'd like to see. I can shoot some with my iPhone when I get home today.
I noticed that, too. Knock on wood. Not the end of the world if it doesn't sell. I love the car, and it has required very little from me. Belts were done in 2013 and everything works well. I could live with two for a while (or for life). It's just a garage space issue.
By the way, one of the greatest car days of my life was the day I picked up this car. I bought it from a collector in the Pittsburgh area (who would probably rather have his name withheld -- very nice guy, and understandably private). His collection was just unreal. Two Daytonas (one coupe, one spyder), two Countaches, a glass 308, a 246 Dino, an F40, an older 911 Turbo, a 275 GTB, a 360, one or two others...and the crown jewel of the fleet, my Mondial 3.2!
I am watching this on and actively looking at one on Hemmings, both with same mileage. Tough choice. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
The choice is clear! Bid! ;-) It truly is a beautiful car. Strong engine and perfect gearbox. Never overheats. A/C is good. Top is very good. Only reason I'm selling is that I bought a 456 and don't have space for two without putting my daily driver outside for the winter (which isn't a terrible option, but not pleasant in Minnesota).
No lift. My house and garage are turn of the century. The garage actually has oak floors! It's a beautiful building, but the ceiling isn't high enough for a lift. In the past, I've stored cars in a friend's temperature controlled airplane hangar. That's what I'll do if it doesn't sell for a fair price. $36,500 seems like a steal to me, frankly. I'm hoping to get closer to $40k. But if that's the winning bid and he pays, it will be a heck of a deal!
If anyone is interested, my car ultimately sold to a lovely gentleman in Europe for $38,500. It was picked up this morning by his shipper, who will be taking it over the ocean. It broke my heart to see it go, but MAN do I love its replacement -- a 1995 456 GT in giallo/nero with a six-speed manual.
I've always liked the 456, especially in the more flashy colours like yellow, blue and red. Show us some pics! That V12 must feel very special
The 456 is SO extremely good. It's a very different car from the Mondial (or my 308 that preceded it). Both of those cars have that snappy, revvy, high-pitched V8. The V12 is a different animal altogether. It has a low, throaty growl that I find absolutely thrilling. I find myself thinking about the sound before I go to sleep at night, and sometimes I sneak out and take her for a spin just to hear it. The power is staggering. I can't quite explain this, but it feels faster in the seat of the pants than anything else I've driven. You just feel pushed back in the seat. I find it odd because my daily driver is an Audi S4, which is quicker on paper to 60...yet the 456 feels much faster. It is a more evolved car than my previous Ferraris. Extremely comfortable and pleasant to drive. If you put the suspension in the soft setting, it floats along like a luxury car (even while never losing its handling). Put it in the hard setting, and the handling is really glorious -- with nice, predictable power oversteer. It's a true GT car -- fun in the twisties, great on the highway, and docile in traffic. The craziest vital statistic: it has a 29 gallon fuel tank. I absolutely love it. I'll miss the Mondial, which I also dearly loved. But in the same way as you miss a former girlfriend when you meet the woman you really want to marry. This is the new car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is absolutely beautiful. Congratulations!! Would love to hear more comparisons/contrasts/pro and cons! Cheers
