Sorry to read about your wife's condition. My best thoughts for her speedy recovery! About the TR, you should advertise it as an 88.5 model year with the 5 lug rims (a noteworthy update in the TR line). It looks in great shape, and I hope to see it on the roads here in Connecticut!! Mine gets out everyday for a good jaunt down the Merritt Parkway. Best of luck with everything!!
The 5 lugs were a downgrade IMHO...made purely to appease the DOT safety hounds. The single lug looks much better...it is just as safe in my experience...why do you thing F1 and most other race cars use a one lug wheel?
"why do you thing F1 and most other race cars use a one lug wheel" Because it makes tire changes during races faster! IMHO, the five lug system accommodates the do-it-yourselfer better than the single style, for guys like me who take the wheels off a car more often that not.
The "single" lug system is not a lug, but a BOLT that requires over 300-ft-lbs of torque to put on correctly. The 512 you have Frank is a NUT that doesn't require near the force to put on. The 5-lug was done to make life easier for the owners more than anything. As I understand it, the DOT suddenly decided that with the introduction of the TR, a single nut was not enough (like the Boxer had), but a single bolt was OK. A bolt requires considerably more force than a nut to lock down.
