tickets are never presold. Yes must know vendor or be on the list but if you can get on the list you can buy tickets at the door.

preregistration this year is already up, they have really cracked down last year and this year making sure that you are in the industry to get in. Ill be going again this year, have to be there on Sunday the 28th to park the car since its being displayed.

to answer your initial question, its always worth going to, and if youve never been before and are into cars, then it is a must....definitely an experience worth having

I think there is a pretty cool car show that weekend too... I will have to look it up. It's a benefit for a charity, the whole weekend before SEMA. I will let you know.

You are right they have really cracked down this year, you have to have either a pay stub or a business card with your name on it just to get in, even if you are pre registered you have to present either of the items to obtain your passes. I just got off the phone with the people who put on the shows at the convention center. I am taking my family, employees, and a few friends this year. looks like the printers are going to be busy. I cant wait for the show it's my 6th.

They say that every year I bet. Yes it's industry only but if you got in last year luckily, I'm sure you could do it again.

You will need to show proof you run your own

    1) Business - and they do a verfication. - people have been turned away.
    2) press pass and they do a verfication. - people have been turned away.
    3) IMHO-dont go unless your automotive related trade business its not really a car show for the public.

I don't think Kfence is discourgaging people from going, rather I think he is being realistic in warning folks that they can easily get turned away without proper credentials. I have beeen invited to go from two different vendors, and have been informed how tough it is to get in without ALL of the proper ID. Then again, who am I to dispute the word of JJ911 who is, most likely, the most dialed in to the automotive world of all of us on the FERRARI forum.

Dont try and talk sarcasism with me Ronnie I invented it...

But on a serious note your right. Unless your on the list then it spills over to the next year and there is no more hassle to go threw. But yes a first year sign up they will need to see business cards or maybe some check stubs to see you work with the particular company...

Thnaks ronny , no crap, man I WOULD BE freverntly pissed if I drove or had to fly in and to get turned away would make it really upsetting, by all means go but if your not in the busines of trading over $1,000,000 in sales there is no need to go, if you go and you have the right credentials go solo as it will be very easy to loose your friend or significant other in that sea of people.

I've gone for several years now and it's an amazing time.

It is hard to secure credentials if you are not a SEMA member or an exhibiting company. The best way for non exhibiting company to secure badges is to contact someone that has a booth or that is a member. You can also try and get a AAIW Vistor badge with would be for a visitor. They've requested that all vendors this year not add friends to there lists of credentials which is crap.

They do check pay stubs, business cards and letter head in some cases. You can also get in contact with various media companies and or site photographers and register as media. And in being media you can gain access to other things that most vendors can't. But if you do come in as media, when you check in make sure you have a business card for each person checking in. There name available in printed and or online media or web page.

I arrive OCT. 28th and Depart Nov. 4th. So email me if you are coming out. [email protected]

    Caleb.

Well they have the SEMA Featured vehicle lot which is outside of the south and north hall entrance and then friday they have a huge car show at Hard Rock after the show is over. Most featured and booth vehicles head out there. It's pretty cool!!

I have attended the last two years, merely as a spectator, courtesy of the supplier who was exhibiting my car (one year a tricked out H-2, the next year my CGT). Same for this year (look for the black 430 spyder). In general, the place is overwhelming with all sorts of products. The wheel display is truly overwhelming, and is the location of most of the exotic cars (and women). There are other areas that sell all sorts of products - car care, aftermarket performance, driving schools, etc. I don't really find that much interesting there, as I usually read about those in the rags. The dealer areas are interesting as they usually have some great concept cars or tricked out production cars. Last year, Michelin had the best display as they had a Ruf, Ferrari, McLaren, Lambos, Mercedes (from what I recall).

To me, some of the more interesting aspects are outdoors which isn't tightly patrolled (no one checks credentials for the outside activities, but for a few tented areas) as far as admittance - drifting, rock crawling, other custom/aftermarket producers, and lots of tricked out cars and some models.

I am good for about 1 day at the show, as it is really quite overwhelming. However, if you like trade shows, to walk around, and maximizing everything the show has to offer, by all means, get a ticket. Try also to get into the private parties - it is Vegas you know!

They were a little tough last year.

I was just happy I took the postcard that SEMA sent to me. I saw them say no to at least 5 people who were in the line in front of us.

My advice is if they say no walk up to someone else in line and ask if you can use their business name to get in, its not like you can buy anything with the card.

I did that at an optical convention once and the eyeballs doctor who let me in also had already paid for a few spots so it was free.

in the past it has been a cake walk to get in, just needed to be on a list and a business card and proof of ID, but because of this so many people have been going and they are trying to get back to the reason it is there and that is a TRADE SHOW for business. In doing this they made it much harder for first timers as has been mentioned, but even for repeat attendees as I have been going for the past 5 yrs now and last year was more of a hassel then ever and took a while to get in. If you are business they require proof of tax forms to show that you are actually in business and dont just have a registered ficticious business name or something of the sort. If you are going as an employee they are looking for paystubs to show that you work for that company. If you have a show car that is taken care of for you by the company displaying it, etc etc. They even cut back on the number of models a little bit, and are making it more professional once again. If you are in the industry SEMA can definitely help out your business, if you are just a car fanatic it is definitely an event worth seeing at least once. If you are already in vegas for the week there is the outside areas where I dont think anyone cares who is walking around to see that so its an added bonus to your trip. but I definitely would not make the trip unless u were 100% guaranteed your entrance.

I really enjoy getting to have a day or two to just walk around and enjoy the show as an enthusiast and not have to worry about any work or the car or whatever else you might be there for. So I get the best of both worlds in that I can do that and also walk around another day or two and make killer contacts.

the michellin booth had a Veyron, Koneggsigg, S7 and some others, it was a plethora of supercars for sure

I went in 2005, it was so huge I didn't even get to see it all... It was really awesome though.

I work for AAA so I just submitted that info to them and they accepted it! :)

Definitely worth checking out if you can.
